Will be keeping an eye on this thread as this year for the 1st time ever I have all three of my children & all three of my grandchildren here overnight on christmas eve, plus SIL & DP. I can't wait.Sometimes not moving backwards is as much an achievement as moving forwards is on other times. (originally posted by kidcat)
It's only a bargain if you were going to buy it anyway!0 -

I never had a Christmas stocking as a kid. The lady that is now my wonderful wife introduced me to them the first Christmas we were together. So it was the second Christmas that I did one for the first time. What she hadn't figured on was my sense of humour. Among other proper presents, what I did was:
I stole my mother's budgie's wooden ladder. Well, he never used it. I wrapped it up properly and put it in the stocking with the other presents. Of course, when she unwrapped it she looked at me in confusion. I just looked sullen and said "oh dear. It looks like you have a ladder in your stocking."0 -

It's not always easy,And sometimes life can be deceiving,

When we were kids my mum used to put tangerines in our stockings. Those were the days 'ey. I'm getting a little emotional thinking about it as well as feeling Christmassy.
I always remember my dad used to put a big boot print in the fireplace down in our cellar to make it look like Father Christmas had come through there. We really did have great Christmases then.0 -
This has inspired me to give making a stocking a go. I think once I've got the basic stocking shape cut out and tacked together I'll decorate it and come up with a list of little things to give to my sister. I'm not sure if she lurks on here though so I'll have to be careful about what I say will go in it! The other possibility is to make one for our nieces, but I have no idea what to go in them. Thanks for all of the inspiration.
