    what a lovely thread....we do a stocking for 2ds aged 4 and 11....i got fed up with the actual stocking shape as i couldnt get some shapes in...now use a pretty christmas bag that has in it;
    gold choc coins
    book/magazine
    big smarties tube
    sweets
    marbles
    bag of soldiers
    putty
    letter from sants
    £2 coin

    and other bits
on the hawkins bazaar chat...we got the ready made stockings for the last 2 years...very full and imo well worth the money...but we arent doing them this year as the contents were a bit repetitive iykwim

I mentioned this last year but I think it's worth repeating.
My friend does a mini breakfast for her 4 children in their stockings, eg cereal bar, juice, raisins etc plus a few simple treats. She says this keeps them busy whilst mummy and daddy come round. :)

Sorry for a repeat thread sethsgran.

I love the idea of a mini breakfast in the stocking, that would keep my youngest happy! Might borrow that idea.

Most of what people put in their stockings, mine get in their Christmas eve boxes (shower gel/toothbrush etc)

Going xmas shopping this afternoon so i'm going to have a look at what else i can find:)
  • ooh never thought of putting food in, will be adding and apple and something to drink this year then lol

I can't better the great ideas here but every year I put the small size 'Frosty' snowman in my son's stocking. He's 13 now so it's horribly uncool but I think he'd be secretly disappointed if there wasn't one.

The stocking is my favorite part of christmas (well, one of my favorite!) :D

I have finished the stocking for my DS. He has...

‘surprise’ box (bought from the entertainer - contains a 'toy' for a 6+ year old)

    Toothbrush & timer
    Flannel
    Horrid Henry Christmas DVD
    Playmobil Medic set

    Mousie Mousie game
    Cow “Star” teddy
    Dr Who Top Trumps
    Badger Night Night balm
    Dr Who Mini sticker book
    Lego Mini Figure
    Lindt Reindeer
    Choc coins

    And for my sister (32).....

    Face mask
    Hairbands
    Cowshed lipbalm
    Cowshed bath stuff
Xmas tin with mints in (Boots)

    Christmas Socks
    Rose Candle in a tin

    Choc Coins

I really like the idea of a 'breakfast' in the stocking.... might have to add this too!! :)

Well OH has requested a stocking this year - I was planning on making him one but hes now mentioned he wants one as he used to get one when he was a child. Its kind of thrown me as I was planning on just putting his small bits and bobs that ive bought him in the stocking as a surprise but hes now on about toys and stuff??? (hes 36 lol and wants toys?!)
    So Im thinking
    - a matchbox car or two (Wilkinsons 80p lol)
    - A slinky (Wilkinsons 80p)
    - Tube of Smarties (£1 pretty much everywhere)
    - Terrys Choc Orange (£1 pretty much everywhere)
    - His fave Ted Baker Deod
    - His Fave Ted Baker Shower Gel
    - A Lush Bubble bar
    - A CD
    And now Im stuck :rotfl:
As a child I never used to get a stocking so going to read back through this thread and see if theres any ideas I can steal and fill the stocking I bought as a extra gift into a tada im an amazing gf gift:rotfl:
Love is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?

I'll tell you one thing, its always better when we're together

My kids usually get in their stockings:

    choc coins
    satsuma
    Tube of sweets
    deodorant
    Baubles for their hair
    Nail polish
    Mini toiletries
    Piece of Jewellery
    Voucher or a concert/show ticket

Can't have a a stocking without choc coins my mum used to always put them in mine.
  • Love Christmas stockings!!

My sisters and i give each other one now were older 26, 34 and 40 and my wee boy of 5 enjoys his almost as much as we do.We always follow the samw basic format as our mother used

at bottom of stocking you find:-
silver coin, clemintine, giant orange, apple and gold chocolate coins and bubbles

    in the middle you get:_
pencils/ paints, mini game, bath stuff, mixed sweets,a puzzle, small soft toy, tooth brush, wash cloth, bath sponge etc etc any little things you can find that you think suits the person

and bursting out the top a big chocolate santa, a new christmas ornament or decoration and cracker to pop, always laid over a selection box

    Cant wait now.
