This year for the girls (age 8 & 6) I have a pack of underwear, socks, glittery bangles, a heart pendant (both in the Matalan sale) satsume, chocolate coins, chocolate lolly & a pack of these "silly bands" or whateverthey're called - this yrs craze so they say! For my son who's 2.5yrs I have Thomas the tank slippers & a die cast Rosie train (Home bargains for £1.99 not the usual £6 at the shops!) & a chocolate lolly...then I'm stuck!0

Another awesome Christmas thread
I don't have any kids yet but can't wait to do their stockings when the day finally comes. (fingers crossed for 2012! That is the plan).
My mum recently told me her 'formula' for her stockings that she used to give me and my brother (we are now 26 and 31 and don't get stockings, I was so gutted when she stopped doing them). We used to get one medium sized present from our parents under the tree and the stocking was our main presents plus selection of others. There was always one big present like a fishing rod for my brother or My Little Pony house/dance studio/school for me, then a calendar, video/dvd, book, craft kit of some kind, pens, chocolates, girly stuff, small girly toys for me, chocolate coins and other sweets, item of clothing and any other bits and bobs. My parents always did a good job of keeping mine and my brother's stockings similar value.
I want my OH to do me a stocking this year so I have just emailed him to tell him lol. I doubt he will go for it but I totally miss having one! With all those little things in it. I don't need anything big, just little silly christmassy things.0 -
OH has told me I should make a stocking for his little brother (half brother really, who is 5). Aw I can't wait!!!0

This is a great thread.
It got me talking to my OH about stockings and what we used to get as kids. He told me that when he was younger his Christmas Stocking was one of his dads old walking socks.
So I rung my MIL and she is putting aside an old walking sock of FIL for me to suprise OH at Christmas!! Im so looking forward to seeing his face as he has no idea. Im going to do a small stocking for my mum as well as shes staying over this year.
Thank you for so many great ideas!0 -
I still have a stocking and I'm 30. :embarasse
My mum hangs it on my doorhandle. It usually has some makeup in it, a lip balm, a Touche Eclat stick, some chocolate or sweets, and any other presents she's already got me that are really small and she can squeeze in.
The reason I have one is to give me something to do until I can wake the rest of the family up, I'm afraid I still wake up at about 7 from the excitement.:rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf:0 -
ooooh oooh, pick me! pick me! I just remembered something....glowsticks from the pound shop
You can even snap a couple and have them poking out of the top in case of very early risers
(depending on the age of the child, obviously)

I LOVE mseLove is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy,And sometimes life can be deceiving,
I'll tell you one thing, its always better when we're together0 -
i used to get 'shiney money' in the bottom of my 'american tan tights leg' lol. I can't remember getting chocolate coins forty years ago, but we used to get the newly minted 5p's etc and we always got a selection box in the shape of a stocking.0
