No real need if you have a TT phone service - calls to the Customer Service department (ends in 1820 are free!)

CPW have the same problems that you have,I went to cpw and they were hanging on for 1.5hrs - Don't bother 08700873527 is also free. - MOUSETRAP
  • Hi

i signed up at the start for phone and broadband and everything was well until the line was upgraded. A few hitches (it's stopped my answerphone from working) but other than that all was well until 10 days ago when i got a fault on the line. I was promised calls that never happened. After a week of phoning the faults team twice a day and receveing promise after promise that my calls would be returned, I finally got an honest chap who admitted that it was currently 2 weeks from the fault being logged before it was even looked at. Although it wasn't what i wanted to hear, at least he was honest and has set my expectations.
At least our broadband is still working

My experience was similar the fault was at upgrade on the 19th September and the first posertive action was on the 2nd October when the line engineer said "nothing to do with me i'll report it to OPAL" - JUST EXPECT THE WORSE AND YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPOINTED.

Hi - I understand your problem.Early on in my 60 day marathon with TT I was advised that according to the comp. screen the matter had been resolved and that a letter was in the post to me 5 weeks later no letter. I would ignore that comment and phone again you are sure to speak to a different person and get a different ans. It may take some time but make yourself a nusiance, if it goes to OPAL they will may tell you to wait 48hrs that is the mandatory responce time for OPAL,they proberbly won't reply, I just phoned again after 48hrs. Try 08700873527 it is free all you have to do is wait.
    Good Luck - MOUSETRAP

Sorry, not a comment or vote (I've steered well clear) but the below link NEEDS to be here.

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Just had to request my 3rd MAC code as they havent used it yet!

Recieved 2 modems a fortnight ago though!
1 hour on the phone tonight- 30+ mins to a 10p per minute line ( the advisor didn't know it was)

They also cut me off from my landline having failed to process a payment last month and calls to confirm the payment had gone through.
Sick to death of Indian call centres and the lack of notes or communication

Told the guy in India tonight that if we (the company I work for) gave customer service like I'd recieved from them- we'd have been shot!!
He went silent and I had to explain that it was a saying!
    Not literally!!

I have had to pay 3 extra months to my old provider
I'm at my wits end- just complained to Ofcom and to their head office

I have to say that I haven't had any trouble with Talk Talk. I applied in June and received it in August which is what they said would happen. Everything works okay the one exception being that our internet was very slow. However I am over the moon as I have just found out why. We had their anti virus thingy and it was on free trial for 3 months. Unfortunately I rang them after it ran out so I was to be without an anti virus for a few days. So, I downloaded a free AVG one and ran a test and it came up with all sorts of things and ever since then it has worked perfectly, really fast. We have 1.1Mbps. I wonder if when downloading the actual Talk Talk disc in the beginning whether it allows in viruses or maybe I already had them. Or, maybe their anti-virus is no good.

Anyway, it is all working perfectly now and I have cancelled their anti-virus and I am sticking with the free one for now.

    Ciao

    Hi,

Just thought I would add my experience.

I signed up and went live in June. Had no problems at all setting up, and was up and running straight away. (2.2mb connection)

I then received a letter explaining that they were upgrading the service and I may experience some down time. Next time i logged on, I had a 8mb connection.. wooo..

That lasted for about 3 weeks, then suddenly I was unable to log on. ADSL light on my modem alternates between solid, and flashing indicating a problem with the connection.

Like others on here, I can get no answer from the technical support number, even after joining the queue at 8am!

No broadband for over a month now. Very frustrating. I went to a Carphone Warehouse branch (where the staff were very helpful) They used there contact number to contact Talk Talk broadband, but they were held in an endless queue too.

When my connection was working, I enjoyed a good service. Now it's not working, (Which I guess is a result of the LLU at my local exchange) I am getting more and more frustrated.

    Hi This is MOUSETRAP
I had much the same problem,my broadband outage was 60 days although I am now back on at 6 - 7Mbps. The problem is that the broadband upgrade team have to refer to the line company OPAL and this is done by e contact not voice. Opal have a statutory 48hrs to reply,in fact they often don't and "the team don't always follow up so when you phone back the cycle starts again.I know that it is frustrating but you just have to keep phoning. I was told very early on that they would have to reduce my connection speed from 8Mbps but it took another 4 weeks before they took any action - Best of luck
