If that link you posted fermi, could be made default setting then probably we won't have problem with logging in? I don't know the technical side to this and if it could be done, but each time I click on it I seem to be already logged in and when I click on the normal forum page, looks like I'm logged out, having to log back each time I close the page.

I'm still getting the problem of coming back to the site and it seems to think I've only visited 1 minute ago.

For example I was last on around 22:30 last night but didn't logout as I always do. Clicked through from an email notification this morning at 08:50 to read the next post in a thread I'm subscribed to - that was fine. Came out of that post to look elsewhere and noticed that there had been no other new posts since my last visit. Then noticed that it said I had last visited at 08:49 which explains the supposed lack of new posts.

However other times when it's only been around 30 minutes since visits I can come back and it still shows the previous time of my last visit. That bit was explained as apparently the time it takes to realise you are offline has been changed from around 15 minutes to 45 minutes.

    Anyone else having this problem?

I've looked into this a little further.

Clicking through from an email notification shows the correct time for last visit. However as soon as I navigate away from that post, time of last visit changes to 1 minute ago so I'm unable to view any more posts as it thinks there aren't any.

I'm using IE8 and this only started happening to me this morning. Despite ticking "Remember Me" box, I have to log in every visit and it's a d**mned nuisance!

Well. Something odd has happened with the forum a couple of days ago.

Previously I had no problems with old bookmarks that took me to pages with .html or no extension rather than the newer .php, even though that had been switched to the default.

However, he MSE techies have clearly changed some setting on the forum/webserver that has caused loading pages from these old style links/bookmarks to mess up the logon/cookie system.

So agreed. If either that could be made the default now in some way, then it would help. Either that, or reverse what was tweaked about 2 days ago?

Normally I choose to remain permanently logged in to the site, however that appears to have stopped working.

So I log in to the site (using IE8) ensuring that I select 'Remember Me?'. If I then shut down my Browser, reopen the Browser and return to MSE I'm asked to log in again. I've tried deleting the MSE cookie, but it makes no difference. Any idea what's going on?

    Thanks

    Mine too.

Others are saying their thanks button isn't working.

    Lots of glitches around.

Have you tried ignoring that and clicking through to a board? Are you logged in then?
