Are you coming to the main page using a bookmark or other sort of saved link?

If you are, what is the full url of the link?

I have the main site bookmarked and enter the forums by clicking the tab at the top of that page, I do not come straight into the forum pages.

All of a sudden my old bookmarks with links to .html pages rather than new .php ones gave me all sort of hassle yesterday.

Seemed to mess with the logon system, so wondered if something similar was happeneing here.

But clearly not.

The old bookmark where I have to log in is http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/ but the main forum page is now
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/index.php and I'm automatically logged in there. I've replaced my bookmark and everything is fine.

So it now suddenly works OK if you use the http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/index.php link instead?

Maybe it is related after all then?

I had problems when going straight to pages that had old .html extensions in the bookmark. Like [noparse] http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=50[/noparse] for this board. But maybe it affects more than that for some people?

Not only that, it is clearly happening to people using the latest (and a few older versions) of IE.

So, not a fix anyway.

But yes, it is a bit presumptuous to just tell people to use IE.

This laptop is running Linux. I could get IE working with some hassle, but for most people it could be technically very difficult. Certainly not worth the hassle just to post on MSE.
