    Hi tine,

I'll move your thread over to the Site Feedback: Questions & suggestions board where the people who make decisions about the MSE chat forum will hopefully see your thread. :)

Well the word from higher up is that it will be mulled over ;)

I have no problem with letting in the non-xmas special occasions like valentines, easter etc :) OBVIOUSLY they are nowhere NEAR as cool but we love them none the less :)
I do think that maybe it should have subforums? One for x-mas and then others like Present ideas, "holidays" Ideas (easter, hannuka (sp?), and any other you like) I dunno... still loads of things to incorporate but the best way of splitting them... a mystery :)

The point of a Christmas forum would be to keep information together and NOT driving others mad with discussing saving for next christmas on the 5th of january ;)

We might even be able to have a "super indexed thread" for stuff like this... (well if squeaky is willing to pass on the knowledge on how to do this :))

can you have sub-sub forums? what about as follows:

    Celebrations board
    - Christmas
    -- Christmas food
    -- Christmas presents
    -- Christmas decorations (etc.)
    - Valentines
    - Halloweens
    - (etc.)
    - General Gift ideas
    - (etc. on general boards)

Not in my book, but I can appreciate that maybe not everyone is as jolly as I? ;)

Let's face it - the first christmas threads in June all get met with "NOOOOO it's too early!!!!!" :)

June to early  except for those making their pressies - January is the right time, so the 5th of January would be fine!!!

I agree with Queenie though it would be useful for ALL pressie buying events to be included!! Especially as OH is a Christmas baby :)
  • Along the thread of other occasions to celebrate I like using the earthcalendar.net site as it lists all manner of festivals, something for practically everyday of the year.
...it is not of more importance than daily life, which I have an enduring wish to make as useful and beautiful as possible.

Yes please high ups and important peeps, a christmas forum would be very helpful

There are christmas threads through most of the forums now and it is hard to keep abreast of all the really useful information out there. Like others have said it is a massively important yearly event that drives lots of people into debt, and drives others to distraction.

So, please, may be have a new forum, thank you please? :D

At the risk of being pedantic ( :o ) it's only a "massively important" annual event if you are a Christian ;) :shhh: We now live in a multicultural society and not everyone believes Christmas is such a "massively important" event.

*Any* regular celebration is an expense, not just Christmas! And not just religious festivals (of *any* denomination!) either.

Ask a Scot how much they spend on Hogmany (actually, they are Scots, best not, they are reknown for their thrift :D ) How about the Irish and St Patricks Day celebrations? To have a forum dedicated only to Christmas could prove offensive to other money savers who are not Christians.
Or are we saying only *Christian* Money Savers deserve a focus? Of course not ;):D
