Thats a bit too "pc" for me. If the majority want a "christmas" forum as the majority of this country are Christian then so be it. We dont get that many posts about any other religious celebration.

OK I agree with this - later this week we'll be starting a

Christmas & Other Wintertime Festivals Board

The other winter celebrations is to allow those celebrating Id, Diwali and Chanucah to join in as well. Though I want to keep it specifically for these rather than year round stuff.

If anyone can think of better phrasing for this - please let me know!

That sounds good. If it was a general celebrations thread all the marriage, christening etc threads would have to go there instead of the families board. This way it's very specific to one board and should keep most of the threads together. Looking forward to reading it.

Well as for the Christian thing offending people then no it won't... I'm Pagan thanks :P Seriously tho then Yule is just before x-mas (shan't start the debate about that) but to me it's about family, friends and not about religion.

Thank you Martin for allowing us our own X-mas/Late December forum on the boards :) I can't think if a better name than Christmas tho I'm afraid :(

WOOOHOOOOO we get a christmas forum!!! YAY!!!!

i second queenie and gingham's suggestion that we would benefit from a more generic sub board, as the board is littered with things like this

a celebrations, festivals and special occasions board as it were. from christmas to chanucah, celebrate in style the MSE way :j

That's the second time I've been tempted into doing that today :D I'm very excited at the thought of a winter festivals forums and looking forward to learning more about some of the non-Christians ones too

    To me, it's about ...

    ... :shhh: moneysaving

Whether it's gift giving for Christmas, birthday's, anniversaries, housewarming, christening, etc., or celebrating a religious, pagan, New Age, commemorative occasion, it all adds up, no matter what the belief system behind the occasion. Any and all can be done far cheaper than the advertisers/promoters, trying to convince us otherwise.

I also don't think it's fundamentally about being "PC"; surely, in this arena, it's all about ... moneysaving? ;)
