White Van Man Scam - another one

Got stopped by one of these this morning near to Holderness Rd. I'd read this thread so told him, and said that I knew it was a scam. The van was red and had a company name on it 'Sleep in Style - Suppliers of Quality Beds & Furniture'. Even had a business card which I took, just to see what details were on it. Nothing except the company name, various towns that they apparently trade in, and a mobile number for delivery. No address where you can go and choose what you want. I wonder why? :rotfl:
The nearest Sleep in Style I can find to Hull is in Liverpool. If it was a legitimate business then it would at least have a land line number, and a head office address.
It must be quite a sucessful scam to go to the expense of sign writing. As for cards, you can get them printed anywhere. Never trust someone who gives you a card with just a mobile number on it. And if it has an address and a land line number, then check it out.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I suspect that they were towards the Hull end of Holderness Road, rather than the far end where people are less likely to to snap up a bargain (no questions asked). I couldn't see them going anywhere near Swanland.0 -

Liverpool isn't one of the cities mentioned on the card lol. They were close to the city centre. I'd just picked the wee one up from nursery a bit early, so looks like they were trying to catch people collecting kids for dinner time. Looks like schools are going to be a particular haunt for these cowboys.
I'd have called their bluff and wasted a bit more of their time if I hadn't been in a rush. Would have loved to act all interested then tell him 'But honestly, they're worth about £50, if that, right?' I asked the name of the mattresses, was something along the lines of memory foam king. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -

Well if they are dodgy imports from China, then they wouldn't be worth £50, as they may contain dangerous chemicals.0 -

It's not a bargain if it's a cheap poor quality import from China that contains dangerous fire retardant chemicals. Or if the low quality memory foam starts to break down, or the memory foam just simply doesn't work as memory foam memory foam is supposed to.
A copper should know better.0 -

Who was the supplier?
If they are selling them for £100 each, then they are very very low quality.0 -
Paid white van man £60 for a useless video camera once - right piece of junk; then bought a whole load of fluorescent tubes - none of them worked!
But then I am a bloke after all!0
