Great - now when I try a test transfer it gives "error on page" when I try to set the date.
  • At the risk of trying to 'teach my grandmother to suck eggs', if you are thinking of closing your account I would withdraw all funds except the minimum balance of £1, before you request closure.

I tend to do this anyway when closing accounts, but especially in this case. ;)

I have been waiting since 10th October for my account to be closed and the small closing balance to be transferred to my linked account. That's nearly as bad as cahoot!

What do cahoot and ICICI have in common? Little or no prospect of face to face contact. BTW I thought Indians were supposed to be courteous...
  • I decided that it was time to pull out of ICICI back in September so sent letter in post asking to close my account (had been locked out of internet banking and got no help from 'customer services'). My letter was acknowledged the next day and I was advised that the funds would be transferred to my nominated account on 18th September.

No funds ever arrived and the ever so polite customer services could only make one response - "we have made the transfer correctly and it must your current account provider who have made a mistake". Not quite convinced as they have done all they could to help trace payment.

Sent letter to Financial Ombudsman as my complaint was getting nowhere. The day after my letter was acknowledged by FO I received confirmation that a CHAPS payment was made to my current account from ICICI.

It took over 5 weeks to receive my money (over £5k), I have not received any compensation or loss of interest, no apologie. I think this just shows what kind of organisation ICICI are.

Get out now - it may mean taking a lower interest rate but at least you know your money will be in safe hands. I have opted for ING ... not the best but I got a good service from them in past.

I had trouble trying to transfer money out to my linked account yesterday. When i tried phoning them I kept getting connected to their current account phone banking, it was only after I tried a dozen times that they transferred me to the Hisave dept. I've transferred the majority of my money out, once it's back in my A+L account I will close the account.
  • It took me a while to work it out but if you leave the "remarks" box empty when trying to arrange a transfer you get the error page up. Just right "none" in the remarks box and the date thingy will work OK.

This is just the latest !!!!-up following their upgradation.

Removed all my funds except £1 earlier this week, I've totally lost confidence in this lot. I'm off to ING :A

p.s. wasn't the remarks field - Looks like if you go around a few pages the calendar control doesn't work but if you go straight there it does.

    I made a transfer on 23rd oct.
Funds arrived 27th oct (4 days lost interest)
Funds still in clearing so I can't transfer them back and close the account - they ignored my last request to close the account.
Now on hold because their system is really slow...... 5 mins so far.
(I think she is asking someone what's happened and it's not slow at all.)

Gave up waiting so called again.
This person can look at my account.
Said the clearing can take up to 4 days.
When I said the web site says up to 2 days he said he would update it to cleared and it would be available tomorrow.
Also asked why my account was showing an interest rate of 0.0 and he said that is a bug on the web site.

Please try a bit harder with your spelling and grammar, which would appear to be a lot like the banking experiences you are having.

In fact, if you cannot do better than this, then next time, we shall make you write it all out again properly 100 times.
