The Akamuti stuff is excellent and makes a nice gift too, a good site for Akamuti, Aubrey, Pure Nuff stuff etc is: http://www.pureskincare.co.uk/"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

Jason does an SPF40 one and their stuff is usually quite good:

I have to agree with this - I ran out of my facial cleanser about 6 months ago, so have just been using water since and my skin has been so much better. It used to be all blemish prone and sensitive. (I do use soap on the rest of me though!) Now the weather has got colder I am suffering from dry skin so looking for something that will help that - might try a little olive oil at night."Then, when every last cent

Hi
I've been looking for a good natural skincare range for about 3 and a half years now - since I read a supplement in the Guardian about all the nasty synthetic chemicals in skincare products. I've tried many different brands - which is expensive - some have been ok, some have made my sensitive skin react badly and I've also ordered from the internet only to find when it arrived that it contained ingredients I was trying to avoid! Something that is called natural or organic doesn't mean that it's free from synthetic chemicals!
I've recently discovered an australian company that do a wide range of really lovely products - check out the website https://www.miorganicessence.com - they really are natural and organic and the the products have a really nice texture (some of the moisturisers I've tried are thick and 'vaseline-like' and feel heavy on the skin). They have products for face, body, hair and make-up.
And the company is carbon-neutral - they use companies that use renewable resources for energy and plant trees to ship the products around the world, etc.
Also about just using water to wash your face - my mum has always done that but I live in London and always feel like my face needs more than just water to get it clean in the evening.
It's good to see that more people are becoming aware of the synthetic chemicals that are used in all these products that most people use several of a day. But it's one thing to make people aware of it but if there isn't a good alternative most people just put it to the back of their minds and carry on as usual. So for people that don't have the time or patience to make their own products miessence really is the best I've found - I've even stopped looking for the next thing to try! The website https://www.miorganiessence.com also has a good education section and links about synthetic chemicals to avoid.

Edit: I my excitement trying to write my first post I didn't read all of the thread, pure nuff stuff and akamuti have already been mentioned- oops!
Hi there,
hope this works (it's my first post!)
I've been trying out loads of different natural products over the last year with varying levels of success.
I've been trying to find products that don't contain SLS or SLES (this applies mainly to things that foam- shower gel, shampoo, bubble bath, and even toothpaste)
I've tied Urtekram which is pretty good, except for the fact that the shampoo and shower gels contain sodium laureth sulphate which they list as coconut derived, but I can't decide if that's ok or not! Sodium laureth sulphate is heaps better than sodium lauryl sulphate (which gets absored by the skin, where as the laureth's molecules are too big to be absorbed- apparently) so I may be being too harsh on them.
Anyway, Urtekram are very reasonably priced and are good products if your budget can't stretch too far and you aren't trying to be completely evangelical about no sodium laureth sulphate. It's got to be better than the mainstream shampoos anyway, as all of the other ingredients are completely natural.
I'd really recommend their aloe vera body lotion, which is fantasctic and contains nothing nasty. You can get 250ml for around £5 and a little goes a long way. I would say that it's better than alot of mainstream moisturisers around and can be used on your face with no trouble.
Try their soap as well, it's really moisturising and doesn't leave your skin taut and dry, their Chamomile soap is great and costs under £1.50 which for a natural soap is really cheap.
I used www.xynergy.co.uk which stock alot of Urtekram stuff as well as other brands and is worth a look.
I've also just received an order from Pure Nuff Stuff www.purenuffstuff.co.uk
Their products are completely natural and made up in small batches, so they can make up special requests if you ring them (eg, no essential oils or oils of your choice) Their shampoo and shower gels contain no SLS or SLES, they leave your hair feeling properly clean if you know what I mean. They don't lather up that much but then you need to get used to not having loads of lather if you don't want the nasty chemicals that create the lather in mainstream shampoos.
And finally, I've just discovered another site that looks really good www.akamuti.co.uk they trade with African womens co-operatives and sell some really cheap stuff which has got some brilliant customer feedback. I think I'm going to place an order when I've got through all the other stuff I've bought! So unfortunately can't recommend them personally.
Phew! Hope that helps someone!

Definitely. Just make sure the palm oil comes from an ethical source - Palm oil harvesting has caused massive deforestation, impacting people and orang-utrans greatly.ॐ Signature Removed by Someones Mum. ॐ0 -
