perhaps dora if she is still around should start a new thread so we can help with suggestions or provide helpful links and this one should be closed?

Is it usual for threads to be closed then?

I thought they were almost always (99.99%) left open, whjy should it be closed?

    No there wasn't.

Perhaps people will realise now we are all different & not make such foot in mouth gaffs again.

Sorry, I actually meant that there was no need for the reaction that there has been to innocent comments. Too much has been read into them.:o

The problem is whenever things are written, be it an email, a text message, a comment on a forum, sometimes how it's meant can be misconstrued, I have done it myself so many times, as to see what’s written, but not the accompanying body language or mannerisms can make things seem not how they’re meant IYSWIM?

Personally, I haven’t taken the comments that were said as horrible or anything, dare say someone will say I am wrong for that, but as you said, everyone is different. (Which is what makes us all wonderful in our own ways! :D)

I also don’t see the Board Guides as anything different than another MSE poster, apart from they can amend threads etc. They are still normal people, entitled to their opinions, after all the board guide position (if that’s the right term) is a voluntary one anyway, and they do all have in their signatures that their views ARE NOT official MSE ones.

I think everyone will have to agree to differ on here, no harm was ever meant, and I am pretty sure the OP knows that.

Please can we go back to getting on now? So many threads on here descend into arguments lately, what is happening to MSE??

Big big thanks to Niddy, sorely missed from these boards..best cybersupport ever!!
  • It might also be worth pointing out again that the Board Guide closed the thread so that the abuse team could check it, and it was reopened by them without any of the previous comments being deleted, which indicates they did not find it unsuitable for the board. In fact I think the phrase was "what a fun thread".

If the poor Op came back to read this thread she's probably legged it with all the fighting going on. I thought it was so we could all swap frugal tips.

So did I its such a shame that some people have to fight and argue.

So in an effort to bring this back how about looking at this for being frugal http://www.cheap-family-recipes.org.uk/

People are trying to close this chapter and yet you're still having a go and purposely reading the wrong meaning into pebbles88's comment. If you want to keep going on at PP (who, incidentally, is being mature about this and not responding), then take it up with PMs.

The phrase used was "a cool thread".

Personally - I felt a bit embarrassed about not realising that OP might have non-European hair:o - as the thought had honestly not crossed my mind that that might be the case. Having seen that MrsE raised the point that maybe this wasnt the case - I went "Oops....:o" and changed tack on that. I think it would help- a lot - if other people who also hadnt realised all came back and had a similar reaction...and we could then all get back on topic and end of problem...sorted....I know I know that pride comes into this...but we do all make inadvertent mistakes sometimes and its okay to acknowledge this...

No need for a great Apology Scenario - just an acknowledgement that it hadnt crossed their mind (errr...same as it hadnt crossed my mind in all honesty....:o) and thats it...end of...and we can all go onto moneysaving suggestions...:)

...errrrm...actually...I think ALL of us who didnt realise at the outset that OP has non-European hair could come back and just say we hadnt realised and were embarrassed that we hadnt realised that this was the case and we dont need to go any further down that path than that...would be end of matter....case closed...and we can all get back to what we do best (ie moneysaving).

Right...now about my case of outright envy about those nice headcoverings that I personally dont feel I have an "excuse" to wear....:D:rotfl:
