Well big cat, we are already trying to rally certain sections of the community, usually within certain communities you have a bigger reliance on banks/loans etc. That is a good starting place, don't you think.
You must have an idea? Or are you going to live up to the name sake I have afforded you by being self indulgent and lazy!!!?0 -
Can anyone advise me as to what my situation is likely to be?
I referred my case against Halifax to the FOS a few weeks ago. The PPI was mis-sold pre-2005 but the ongoing dispute is not over whether I am due a refund (Halifax have already made an offer), it is just over how much the interest should be.
It should have been the most open-and-shut case imaginable as the FOS guidelines, which Halifax themselves stated they would follow, clearly state how interest should be calculated and I have all the statements for the account to back up my claim. Halifax however took a complete stonewall approach despite the evidence, and now I see why.
As my case had already been referred to the FOS before Halifax’s announcement to put cases on hold, and as Halifax have already made an offer of redress, is my case likely to still be pursued and enforced by the FOS or will it likely be put on hold? Surely as the issue is only over how much interest is due, not whether I’m due a refund in the first place, then there shouldn’t be a problem?! At least you’d think.
And advice greatly appreciated. :cool2:0 -

Have you got it in writing that an offer has been made.0 -

Yes. I've kept all correspondence between myself & the bank & I included copies of them all with my referral to the FOS. Halifax clearly stated at least once in writing that they considered that "the only fair & reasonable way" to deal with my complaint was to make an offer of redress in line with the guidelines of the FOS. And then they made an offer that didn't follow the guidelines.0 -
In fact ankerbanker perhaps what needed to be done has been done already... I personally have a feeling that public awareness and awareness to the FSA/FOS etc has been made already (with help of sites like this one which I feel I have not been lazy on or self indulgent lol!!) and its just a matter of time now!!!!
Just who's side the FSA were really on now... the banks or the consumers with legitimate solid complaints? Only time will tell and they will hardly just be able to ignore the rule book altogether.
I am still looking at this as a "positive" thing and I think the banks will lose. The FSA could then ask that they redress "everyone" without the need for complaints going to FOS, after all most people are complaining about the same thing here.
Just my view... you are entitled to yours!!!0
