martin lewis needs to make some noise about santander
start the campaign, lets jump ship to the spanish bank and prove the british elite cannot extract the urine any longer... (fat chance and we all know it)
Agreed on all three counts (including the last one unfortunately). Both Santander and PPI have channels on Twitter, #Santander and #PPI0 -
as the british public we are all ahareholders in some of these institutions, in some cases the majority share holder.
i am writing to the prime minister and raising this matter as the government needs to put pressure on the banks (particularly the state owned banks) to follow the FSA's advice and continue to process ppi claims.
if anyone else wants to write the details are below.
the more people make contact, the more likely they are to listen.
Write to Number 10
You can write to the PM at the following address:
10 Downing Street,
London,
SW1A 2AA
Email Number 10
It is possible to email the Prime Minister’s Office using the link below. If, however, your issue is personal or you wish to be assured of a direct response to your query it may be better to write to Number 10 using the postal address above. Responses to emails cannot, unfortunately, be guaranteed due to the volume received.
Email the Prime Minister’s Office
Fax Number 10
You can fax the Prime Minister on 0207925 0918 (From outside the UK, the number is +442079250918)
You may also wish to approach a government department or agency directly. Some departments now operate email and telephone enquiry points, and some ministers also have email addresses.
Read a list of which departments are responsible for which issues, including departmental email and postal addresses.I'm proud to say that the banks no longer take money from me after becoming debt free0 -

I have signed online No 10 petitions in the past. Perhaps someone could set one up on the 10 Downing Street website? I would - but can't because I can't use my home computer at the moment - sorry.
originally that is what i was going to do, but the system will not be up and running until later this year, its being re-vamped.
i will keep checking and set one up when its possible,
in the meantime, maybe MSE can produce a letter that everyone can print, sign and send to the PM, and then put a link on one of the permanent threads above.I'm proud to say that the banks no longer take money from me after becoming debt free0 -
I have just emailed the BBA (The voice of Banking and Financial Services - but they seem to be talking a language we do not understand!!!) asking that they give clarity on their statement as no-one really knows how to take it.... doubt I will hear back but worth a try..0

Santander are one of the worst banks for service in the UK. Abbey gained the nickname "Shabby" as it got so bad. Their products are low quality and expensive and they market them poorly by their low skilled staff.
No-one in their right mind could consider Santander as being pro-consumer.
Someone said earlier that why dont the FSA enforce claims after 40 days (or whatever) to be upheld. The problem is that any ruling would apply across the board. Not just to the banks and not just on PPI. Many complaints take a lot more investigation and are not clear cut.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

welll applaud them for at least standing up for the consumer on this occasion, as they are not only still processing complaints but also not backing the JR
