  • Admittedly Troy wasn't grilled sufficiently but he did show the body he represents is completely self serving and ineffectual for the general public and their grievances. Wouldn't wipe my gush with their so-called code of conduct!

I think Troy just invited a nice flood of complaints to the BPA though about PPC's misleading people into thinking they have powers they don't. Not that the BPA care so long as they get money.

    The BPA craves 'regulation'.
There is no need for any at all.

I my gosh thank you for filling in what I overlooked. Do you think that Section 40, A.ofJ.A. 1970 would be more relevant in an email to BBC. If so I would urge others to email or use Watchdog's online comments/complaints form.

I remember a few of us complained after the piece they did last year - sadly it seems they took little notice of the contents of our respective complaints... if I remember rightly, they justified their position and didn't accept they'd done anything wrong.

I suspect given time the BBC's researchers will have educated themselves to the standard of MSE's editorial team and our forum regulars, but then again you never know.

Last night's episode looked promising until they ruined it at the end by saying go to CAB/solicitor for advice on paying.

Sadly non-specialist solicitors and CAB keep advising people to "pay under protest" and then take the PPC to court. WHY?!! Let the PPC take you to court! We know all PPCs are reluctant to do so (still waiting for a single one of these cases to go to court). ;)

They have to do that. They cannot advocate not paying at all from a legal perspective.

With regulation comes "legitimacy" they can then say they are no longer just a trade body.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

    The killer question.

"Mr Troy - You have been in front of a Committee of MPs and admitted these tickets are unenforceable. If that is the case why do you keep representing a body which advocates it's members continue to commit fraud?"

Ah, but if you kill everything off in one programme there is nothing left to justify her continued exorbitant salary in making more half-baked attempts so that they have to revisit them and make even more half-baked attempts. I think its called a gravy train?

I'm reasonably sure - looking at it - that the programme was probably the result of an offer to Patrick "Private Parking Tickets Are Virtually Unenforceable" Troy for him to have a right of reply following the "paper plane" edition. If indeed it was then it was a poor attempt and whilst Troy was not challenged on some of the central issues he performed badly enough, IMO, to show his "industry" up for what it is - from an intellectual standpoint.

The thing to bear in mind is that Troy submitted himself to this when a PR puffer may well have made a far better stab at it. He clearly feels that he needs to swing ordinary people to the BPA's train of thought and from that POV we just need to keep up the pressure.

The obvious angle to attack is that the BPA's current stance is based on the premise that the law is settled and need only be administered by an "independent" tribunal. This is a nonsense and Troy's famous quote shows that he knows it too. If the law were settled then his membership would not consistently lose in court - when cases are defended - and nor would they simply roll over and disappear in the face of silence from their intended victims.

I'm sure if Anne were armed with this ammunition she could do a good enough demolition job.

Besides, they could get the two biker jokers to visit the likes of Graham White's and see what Mr Sobell has to say and then hike a few yards up the road to Roxburghe's and see if Mr Sobell reappeared there.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com
