    Is Landsbanki save to put money into, in I guess they have to comply with British banking laws.

    How strong are they, anyone know?
  • I've just got a quick question:

    I received confirmation of the DD instruction today and the account number had extra zero's in front of it - 000xxxxxxx (where x is my account number). Is that ok?

    I'm pretty sure it is but just wanted to double check :)

    Yes, it works fine like that
  • Leaving out all the pesky Whale issues etc. and keeping it strictly BANKING, what is the bottom line with this ICESAVE account giving 5.45% then. Is it really a great deal or is the service and transfer delays too hit and miss to be such a good thing.

    There are several large UK banks offering good deals at only a tenth or two less.

    Should i continue to wait for my ICESAVE id to come through from two weeks ago or should i deposit my capital into the B. Midshires account i have also opened.

    Have to say the opposite about the setup of the account from others bad experience. We set up account online Sunday, transferred money from FD same day to arrive today in account. Pack and password etc all arrived and yes the money was in my account today as promised. When I called to enquire about the user id yesterday got straight through! Nice customer service all round
    :D
    Currently 4 me its Rogers Contract cell phone, REBTEL.COM is the best mobile making and receiving calls to/from UK and Canada:beer:
  • Instead of phoning back I find that the money is now in my account.

    before I take the leap, a daft question :
    is it easy to withdraw ? I assume you place the request online and they DD the money to your nominated account.

    anybody done that yet, or are you all sitting there soaking up maximum interest ?
    Karma is a wonderful thing. ;)
  • A few questions:
    a) How long does it take for this welcome pack to arrive? I applied last friday (10 Nov) and sent striaght away the proofs they wanted, but have received nothing
    b) What will the pack contain? Is it just a username? If so I could call them on the phone and ask for it.
    c) On the application form it asked me how much money I wanted to deposit (initial payment) and I choose 250 pounds and the BACS payment. The moeny has not yet been taken from my bank account. Is this initial payment something automaticly done by Icisave, or is it something I need to do after receiving the welcome pack?
    d) Why have they not yet updated the website (which still shows 5.2% interest) if the rate raise has been communicated to savers (BTW: I did not receive that email communication!)?
  • a) It was a day or so, but seems to be stretching (prob due to demand); you could give them a ring?;

    b)user ID, T&C, leaflet etc; it's very unlikely they'd tell you that over the phone though, surely?;

    c)you do it once the account is confirmed open;

    d) they have, it shows 5.45%; refresh your browser! (and I wouldn't imagine you'd receive emails until the account is confirmed open)

    I have also been waiting a week. I was told that if I wanted to deposit money before my account is opened I could send it to them (she gave me bank details) and it would be put into a holding account, earning money, and then transferred into my account.

    I assume the welcome pack must include at least the userID and the account number, as these are the parameters I still don't have.

    I have now received back my documents (identity and address proofs) from Icesave and the letter says the welcome pack will arrive in the next 10 usiness days, so definitely Icesave is getting much slower now!
