I've had too much hassle with ICICI's ability to transfer money on my terms, not theirs,

You will still only be able to transfer on their terms, you can't pay electronically from another source, you can't pay in a cheque from anywhere except your first payment from your nominated acc,, you can only use your nominated current acc,( so I was told), that is not good enough, if I want to transfer from another source, I have to transfer into my current acc then into Icesave, losing interest in the process, I have been told I cannot use BACS or CHAPS.

    Yes you can.

You misunderstand my problem - their website was down for long after their 'announced downtime,' and their 'phone CS is a laugh.

What a performance to open an account though. They offer to do an electronic identification for Money Laundering checks, which has always worked for me in the past with other institutions. But no, they still insisted on having all the relevant documentation sent to them in the post. And I had to wait 10 days for replies to my e-mail queries before trying to open the account. Suspect they're overwhelmed with new customers but you would have thought they would have been prepared for this and put the admin support in first.

Well I have got my login/account details today by post so I am in. Seems very efficient from my experience. Now I need to shift some savings around.

    Yes you can.
According to their T&Cs you can't.

    4. Using your Icesave Account

4a. You may make an initial deposit only into a new account by electronic
funds transfer, personal cheque, bankers draft or building society
cheque. For security reasons, you should make any cheque payable
to your name(s) and application or account number. Electronic
transfer of funds must be made from your nominated personal UK
bank account. Cash or other forms of deposit are not acceptable.
Thereafter, all funding of your account is by Direct Debit.

    My highlighting.

I have already asked them this question and they said NO.

You appear to be quoting IceSave's T&C's. If you re-read my posts, my problem with transferring money was out of ICICI shortly after they were 'upgradating' their site. And you can push money into ICICI.

Incidentally, others have managed to push money into IceSave after the intial funding. (Can't find the thread at the moment.)

There is an issue concerning Icesave account numbers, which as well as having numbers, also have letters within them.

For the transfer to work, these latter letters, have to be removed, I think. :)

Yes I appear to have done that, but then this is an Iceave,(Landsbanki),thread

I have seen those threads, but the T&Cs do not support this nor did the CS adviser I spoke to.

I asked ICESAVE how to transfer money direct from another account i.e not the one I set up with them and just had two mails back from them contradicting each other.

The first says "You can only transfer funds in from nominated accounts. You can have an unlimited amount of nominated accounts providing they meet the minimum requirements of accepting a direct debate."

The second says "The details you would need to quote to transfer funds to your savings account are as follows:
    Sort Code: 20-32-53
    Account Number: 80469947
Reference: Please ensure you quote your savings number as a reference which is XXXXXX (this is the number only

I was told over the phone that I could transfer money in to the above A/C no. and sort code and as long as you quoted your own account number as a reference it would get there. Haven't tried it yet.
