I asked ICESAVE how to transfer money direct from another account i.e not the one I set up with them and just had two mails back from them contradicting each other.

The first says "You can only transfer funds in from nominated accounts. You can have an unlimited amount of nominated accounts providing they meet the minimum requirements of accepting a direct debate."

The second says "The details you would need to quote to transfer funds to your savings account are as follows:
    Sort Code: 20-32-53
    Account Number: 80469947
Reference: Please ensure you quote your savings number as a reference which is XXXXXX (this is the number only

I was told over the phone that I could transfer money in to the above A/C no. and sort code and as long as you quoted your own account number as a reference it would get there. Haven't tried it yet.
See this post, Iwas told over the phone that it is only the first transfer that can be made using the acc No and code everything else has to be DD from the nominated acc.

If some one has done it more than once I would like to know, as the time to transfer money into nominated acc then to Icesave means lost interest

  • Just received my ID documents back and a letter confirming everything is ok. Hopefully will get my Welcome Pack in the next week or two and then will transfer money from Ing to Icesave (via current account of course).

I'm very pleased with their service so far :)
  • My acccount with Ice Save is live but they have misplaced my £250 deposit and are trying to track the money! Anyone suffered a similar fate?
  • Opened Icesave online Thursday 30th Nov 8pm, welcome pack arrived Sat 2nd Dec 8am. ;)
Electronic verification no problem and no documents required from me. :T
Sent deposit by bacs, online from FlexAccount and will update here when I have login details to check when deposit arrived with them.

    So far so good.....

Applied the middle on November. Just received a letter so far, no pack, account number or anything, but it did say that if I had sent a cheque (I had) they would have banked it. Still waiting for a response to an email sent on 22 November, had a holding reply that said they would respond within 5 days. They haven't. Can't get through on the phone. It looks like a rerun of my experience with ICICI bank so far. And A&L have now put up their monthly rate to 5.5, so I will be after my £250 back if they don't get a move on. I don't think there is any intention to mess people about, and certainly not anything to do with the fact that they are a foriegn bank (I had problems with the new NS&I instant access account as well), but more to do with being unable to cope with the demand for what could be a good product.
  • Login details arrived Tues 5th Dec at 8am.

Accessed account first go after being instructed to change password for security purposes.

No sign of deposit, yet, though.....

I paid in A cheque for £250 with my application. I've just completed my first DD transfer from my current account (the only way to get my FD savings across) - a notice came up to say it would be in my ICEsave account on Friday 8th. Manhattan - did you get a message like that?
