Yes, in their T&Cs it says money deposited by you electronically will be available for withdrawal on the next business day.

    Hi

Quick question, sorry if it's already been asked... I made our initial deposit last Tuesday and it's hit the account (yesterday), but not showing as 'available for withdrawal' - does this take an extra working day?

    Thanks

Will the photocopy of the drivers' licence be ok to verify identity?
    I can't send the original!

I scanned and printed my driving licence and wrote 'copy' across the page.
I would never send my original. They've sent the copy back after copying it so that will come in useful if I should ever happen to lose my original.

You can push funds in as suggested by Dagobert.

I did this last week and the money has just gone into my Icesave account. I quoted my reference number (as allocated to me when I first opened the account online).

I am really liking Icesave so far!

I just phoned them as I have received letters with different account numbers on them and neither of them match the ref. no. that was set up with the application.

They returned my initial deposit cheque as I, stupidly, had forgotten to write the figures on it. The enclosed letter gave details of how I could pay by BACS instead using sort code, account no. and my account no (beginning with 298...) as reference.

The second letter came in my welcome pack this morning too, with my account no (starting with 55A.....)
Hence I was a little confused as to which number I needed to use as my account number for the reference.
I was told that the '298...' number was only needed for initial deposit before my account number was set up.
As I have my 'proper' account number now (the one starting 55A...) I should use that one as my reference and disregard the '298' one.
So I have now done a BACS to deposit the initial £250. Fingers crossed.

Question is, if I can do it that way now, what's to stop me doing it that way all the time, by pushing funds in rather than pulling?

Money can be paid in by BACS:

    sort code 20-32-53
reference quote your name and Icesave account number
can anyone confirm that this is the correct account and sort code to use

    That's what I've got.

However, I'm a bit concerned that you're going on the say so of a couple of people you don't know on an Internet forum. How do you know the OP didn't give out her own bank details?

Personally I'd be checking with Icesave themselves!

I emailed them a few days ago to check but as yet had no response. Wouldn't hurt to do the same the more they get they might actually put the information on their web site

They don't want you to BACS for some reason, though. That's why they ask you for DD details and only give you the account number and sort code at the end of the application process to use for your first deposit if you want to.

If you do as they suggest and print that page for your reference then you shouldn't have any problems.

Incidentally, does anyone know why they insist on DD? Does it cost them less or something?

I think it costs less to run and they will get regular deposits

Fair point. Although, by the same token, who is to say the Customer Services advisor might not give you their personal account details. ;)

FWIW after Dagobert posted that, and after double-checking against the details given by IceSave for my initial electronic deposit, I made a 'test' deposit and it arrived safely in my account. However you should note that

    1) There appears to be a minimum deposit requirement of £100 - normally I do my tests with £1.
    2) The BACS deposit was still made from one of my nominated accounts. Not sure what their reaction would be if it had come from an 'unknown' account.
    3) I have not tested this, but I understand you may be able to get round the 0845 number by using 0191 255 8377.
    4) Email response time has stretched out from 1 day to 6 days.
