Hi Again,
Following on from my earlier enquiry, I've just applied for an account and as advised did not have to enter passport of driving license details (as I have neither).
However at the final screen I was asked to post documents to them:
Proof of Residency - No problem here, basically bills / statements.
Proof of Identity - Bit of a problem for me! They require one of:
Copy of passport - never had one in over thirty years (sad I know!)
Driving license - ditto
HMRC tax code notification/self assessment documents - nearest thing I have is just a P60
Benefits Agency right to benefit letter - I dont claim any
Firearms / Shotgun certificate - never had one, never planning to either!
EEA member state ID card / Northern Ireland voters card / Blue disabled drivers pass / Benefits Agency book / Benefits Agency notification letter - I don't have any of these!
I'll be sending Proof of Residency off straight away but a bit stumped on the Proof of Identity.
Perhaps it would be easier if the UK did go for ID cards! I've been working all my life, lived in and own the same house etc. but never had trouble proving who I was.
Does anyone have any suggestions of revelations before I grapple with Customer Service? Thanks in advance.0 -
"HMRC tax code notification"
Could you ask the Inland Revenue to send you one of these?0 -
Just call them up and ask. I had problems with the ID requested as well and they had a couple of suggestions which were easy enough and it was all very straightforward.0

Thank you for those suggestions, I'll try them both. :T0

I'm curious: how do you usually prove your identity then?

BoE increase was announced yesterday and Icesave has 10 business days in which to adjust its interest rate. It goes up to 5.45% on the 15th.
SuzeCareful_John wrote:Am I the only one who is a bit disappointed that as of a minute ago, nearly a full day after the BoE implemented its long expected rate rise, the icesave site is still showing the interest rate as 5.20%, when under the terms of its guarantee it should be at least 5.25%?
I presume savers are receiving the higher rate with effect from yesterday.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Savings & Investments, Small Biz MoneySaving and House Buying, Renting & Selling boards. Will the photocopy of the drivers' licence be ok to verify identity?
I can't send the original!0 -

With recent online applications my identity has been verified electronically presumably using electoral roll, employment and credit record information.
When applying for accounts in person at a branch combinations of utility bills, payslips, financial statements and signed credit / debit cards have been used.
When I applied for my earliest accounts after leaving school I used my birth certificate.0 -
Hi
Quick question, sorry if it's already been asked... I made our initial deposit last Tuesday and it's hit the account (yesterday), but not showing as 'available for withdrawal' - does this take an extra working day?
Thanks0 -
