Money can be paid in by BACS:

Are you saying that you can push funds into an Icesave account (and not just the original deposit)? Have you tested it?

You can push funds in as suggested by Dagobert.

I did this last week and the money has just gone into my Icesave account. I quoted my reference number (as allocated to me when I first opened the account online).

I am really liking Icesave so far!

According to their rules, you can only make your initial deposit by BACS quoting - as you say - your reference no. rather than your account no. Further deposits are supposed to be made by Direct Debit.

lswwong - did you manage to make a further deposit by BACS?

I made my original deposit by BACS on October 16th and they are now saying that they haven't received it. Luckily I have screen prints of both their screen, and that of my bank confirming the payment, but it will be interesting to see how soon they sort this out.

I did 2 lots of BACS transfer last week and both arrived safely yesterday and today. I only did it because I had some spare cash elsewhere (small amounts) and could not be bothered to move them to my main account first and then request a DD from Icesave. Therefore I am not likely to use BACS again unless the money is not coming from my main account for any reason.

So, summarising, my initial deposit was by BACS. Then I did some DDs and last week did 2 BACS transfers. All went well, thankfully.

I applied to open an account 4 weeks ago. Sent all the id stuff and have had it returned with compliments.

Still had no user id. Phoned them twice and they said it would be sent. Nothing has come.

    Not impressed with them.

I've jumped on the bandwagon and applied for one of these

Went through the form on Sunday, was straightforward. Put in my driving licence and passport details. I set up three DDs during the process and at the end of the application sent £250 from Halifax to Icesave via BACS.

Got my user ID today and wasn't asked for any more details - welcome pack is arriving separately, apparently. Logged in just now and all is well. DDs are there but obv still waiting for the BACS payment to go through.

  • Opened the account with absolute ease (in my wife's name for tax purposes), got them to send me a form to get tax paid gross (as the wife has no income) ... paid in £2000 to start and then another £4000 from this month's salary. Hoping to pay £2000 to £4000 each month into the account.:D

icesave will show it`s true colours soon if the boe puts its interest rate up to 5%

icesave will have to go to 5.45% in order to maintain its differential. I wonder?

It hasn't made any promise of the sort.

Icesave's base rate guarantee is clear; after today's raise it will need to offer 5.25 or more.

Me too....sent cheque & docs. Received thank you letter and docs returned. Still waiting for welcome pack. Applied originally on 18th Oct but didnt send cheque till last week as waiting for pack to arrive first.
Docs were returned Monday this week.
I'll reserve judgement, bound to be some teething problems, they must have been inundated with requests for new accounts ;)
    ;) debt free...yippee
