As a motorcyclist, I always put a hand up to thank drivers who move over to make a bit of room. So thanks for being one of the drivers who does it.
I also like drivers who, when they are moving over for a motorbike, either give a couple of flashes on their indicators, or stay over for a couple of seconds so that I know they aren't just weaving about while they look for a CD, or something.0 -
Ah right, OK, and here's me assuming that if a driver sees a cyclist oncoming, the driver would stop, but that overestimates lots of drivers. Only advice then in this situation is for the cyclist to take up the middle of the lane, rather than staying on cyclist's left, which is more of an 'invitation' for an oncoming driver to try the squeeze.0

"if a driver sees a cyclist oncoming" :rotfl:
I don't even cycle and that comment had me laughing. I suspect if I did cycle and thus was at a lot more risk from the number of idiots on the road these days then it may provoke a more sombre reaction.
The only non-car hazard that drivers are aware of and looking out for these days is speed cameras. Perhaps cyclists should all ride with fluorescent yellow cardboard boxes on their head instead of helmets.0
