I like people who sit the correct distance behind me, and who leave a bit of extra room when it's icy or snowy on the road, makes me feel much safer that they won't rear end me if I need to stop for any reason.

    ...

I like people who slow down in my street because it's a 20mph zone during school entry/exit times.

I like pedestrians who are standing talking to a friend but still notice and move away from the edge of the pavement to let drivers see along the road they are pulling into.

I like people who slow down for cats crossing the road.:D

I like people who cut the gas when they see little kids riding their bikes on pavements ( I don't like their parents who let them ride off into the distance and can't save them if they swerve into the road)

I like caravanners and tractor drivers who pull into lay-bys to let the traffic past on country roads.

I like people who use their indicators properly on roundabouts, it helps other users enormously.

I like young people who drive well and keep their cars lovely and shiny - it's nice to remember the thrill of having that first car, of being allowed to drive around with no instructors, and caring enough to shine up the bumpers of a beat up old wreck.:D
I have to ask.. are these all likes of genuine incidents you've witnessed or just wishful thinking? :p

I like it when people acknowledge you when you give way to them.

If they're lucky enough to overtake me, I always signal lorry driver's in so they know they aren't about to take me out. It's always nice when you're thanked. The same goes for other motorists in general who say thanks. I'd feel incredibly guilty if I didn't thank people....I'm terrible in London though, as drivers there seem almost bemused when you thank them (although most Londoners rarely do anything worthy of a thank you!), and dont ever expect it in return!

Seeing a boy racer type car broken down in the hard shoulder usually makes my day.

Beating the lollipop lady across the road before she can jam her stick in front of me causing a mass pile up. She's 3-2 up this week.

I'd best not let SWMBO see this ............

I like people who are aware of school crossing patrols (as we are sposed to call them these days ......) and slow down accordingly, it stops me having to listen to stories of how many times she was nearly mown down by inconsiderate drivers that day ........

Pole down the side of the car.
I'd love to see the claim from the driver.
"she hit my car with the pole as she tried to jump out of the way..."

There was a plan to introduce cameras into lollipops. Not sure whether it's been enacted yet:

Just to add a nice story about friendly, helpful drivers. I was travelling up the M5 with a friend in her car when the engine overheated. We pulled over onto the hard shoulder, and she needed to put some water in the engine, but she didn't have any with her. It was a boiling hot day, and we'd already drunk the bottled water we'd got. I then stood on the hard shoulder in front of the car with the bonnet up, waving an empty water bottle and doing pleading gestures. The next thing I knew, bottles of water were flying out of car windows towards me! It probably wasn't the safest thing, but it did mean we could get going again! And as it was a hot day, this meant people were giving up their drinking water to help us, and did it with a smile! And I always make sure I now travel with bottles of water in the boot just in case.
