They are such addictive little things. Have the recipe, I will PM you it if you like. My girls love them. By the time I make these things, there are none left for me. Fast or Last when it comes to churros! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Will have to be tomorrow or later in week for recipe, as I am out later on and at work right now.
Aguas Frescas sounds devine. Not sure of the Tamarind one. I can't even think what a Tamarind would taste like though! :o
yes I'd like your churro recipe please, no rush, just when you have time :)

tamarind is used in Indian cooking as well, so although I've never tried the drink, I know what it tastes like, kind of like a sour (as in tangy) date, it's a nice flavour

never did get round to making the Lupes chilli at the weekend, things kept getting in the way & I keep forgetting to soak the black turtle beans (I'm too mean to buy tins) so tomorrow I hope :o

I think I'll PM spirit & see if she'll post her Ciabatta recipe, I have recipes in various different books, but a BM specific one would be interesting to try :)

Hi guys...just popped on quickly to say the wrights flour that i bought online has been working fantasticaly well in the BM...flour only delivered yesterday but last night i made a lovely crispy on the outside and moist, chewy, inside white French loaf(programme 5)...and today(ready in 10mins),a white basic, that looks perfect and smells deliciouse.
Ive also been cheating a wee bit with the kenwood recipes...ive been adding 2 teaspoons of Flora to the recipes(reducing a teaspoon of oil),and the bread seems to be more "springy"...youngest told me this morning she loves homemade bread and doesnt want shop bought again. :)
that all sounds good, glad the Wright's flour is a success :)

I've not tried the French bake yet, I'm really bad for finding one programme I like & repeating it ad nauseum :o

but after seeing your description, I think that's next on my list

    hi ginvzt :)
can you not sneakily buy one & present him with a lovely freshly -baked loaf ready for breakfast when you get up? he'd be bound to be so impressed he'll be pleased to have a new gadget! ;)

when you do get one, make sure it's a Kenwood 450 or a Panasonic, the others just don't do the job well enough
if you've any questions before you buy, just come back & ask

I still make bread by hand too, I love the feel of the dough :) it depends on what I'm making & what time I have, & some things are better hand made & others the machine excells at

thanks for the tip about the yeast :)

hope to see you back here with your brand-new Kenwood :D

Thanks - I love making bread when time allows! It just tastes better than the bought one (although I still can't make my favourite 'black bread' - rye sour dough bread that is available back in Lithuania).

I love Kenwood breadmaker, it looks great and has good reviews, so I know I would be getting it, if I manage to work my charm. (I guess I might be getting it by Christmas...) I have learned that 'scrooge pays twice' (a proverb back home)

Ok, I don't have breadmaker, but would love to (working on OH to get one - he is against any new gadget for the kitchen).

But i have noticed someone talking about fresh yeast and ordering it from Amazon.

Over the years I have got my fresh yeast from the supermarket - you just go to the bakery section and ask for it. I think Tesco used to give it for free, Sainsbury's add a price, but I can't remember how much. I always thought it was cheap...

If you go to the supermarket late, they might not be able to give any to you, as they 'close' the bakery section, so don't go at 10pm asking for it (although - you might be luckier than me!)

Just decided to get my own in and try it, so I ordered from Amazon. I ended up with 2 lots for price of 1 due to royal mail messing me about (the company sent me another out of goodwill). 1 pack 500g so should keep me going.
I just wanted to have some handy at all times. :)
The breadmaker is the best gadget I ever bought, by the way! :)

Great stuff. Managed to get lots of flour from ASDA cheap, so will order when I run out.:)
There really is no comparison when you start to make your own bread. My girls love it too:)

For a kenwood, I would say amazon. That is where I got mine. Well worth the price too, for the results! :)

  • Hi

another kenwood fan here - I lurve my hm seed bread.

Would like to ring the changes and would love a recipe for ciabatta.

Must experiment more, the kenwood has so any settings, but I tend to stick to the same loaves that I know work well.

Also had a thought, is there a way to make hm wraps ? Keep seeing peeps at work with them, but reluctant to buy them LOL

Brilliant thread, love to hear what recipes you all make

Just an update of fresh yeast. I as in Tesco's yesterday and got some (was making Panettone last night). I as told it costs 20p. I asked for about 200g, and it still had the label saying 100g - 20p. When I got some, it was over 300 g!!!! I would say it is very MSE ;-)
