I keep wanting to try something else out of the kennie book, just so I have tried the whole range! There never seems like enough time though:( I still haven't doen my mexican night as everyone was out/working last week and my guests don't like spicy!
What about googling the recipe name in your foreign book? At least you would have a rough idea of the end result before you try itbut no point in making food your guests won't enjoy
my daughter's just back from Glasgow with a consignment of Lupe's chorizos for me, so we'll definitely be having something Mexican soon

I found this recipe page on a Kenwood site, the recipes are for older machines, but I'm sure could be adapted for the 450
if you use the drop-down box & choose savoury breads there's a recipe for a Guinness loaf

I have wondered myself on the double paddle issue. Like the sound of Guinness bread.
Someone on MSE told me they had the Rachel Allen BM which had 2 paddles for a longer loaf, but it is discontinued now. Perhaps it is the 2 holes in bottom that put people off. I would like to see what they are like.
I cant remember which book I have. I will look tonight when I get in. The recipes seem good. The author borrowed all of the main BMs and adapted recipes to suit all, apparently.:)

I had the Rachel Allen BM and i loved it...2 paddles= 2 holes,but no big problem and the loaves were longer rather than taller,it made lovely bread for 10months then "seized up"..it was that one that i returned to Argos and they couldnt replace so gave me vouchers...hence waiting on Argos to drop the price of the Kenwood Bm450...talking of which,I made the 1kg loaf yesterday and its Huge..at one point i thought it had risen so much it had stuck in the drop down flap..

Meant to ask you about the artisan dough recipe in the handbook. Have you tried it? What do you do with it after the dough cycle finished? No more instructions in the book. Or am I being daft?:o

I made the 1kg loaf too. Had to cut it in half across the middle, then slice it! Couldn't get most of it in our toaster!:laugh:
I am going to have a wee look at the link you posted. I looked at a bread slicer in Lakeland, but it had terrible reviews for being flimsy. Not a good idea in my house to buy anything flimsy!
My slices are getting better, but still the lack of hard crust when it is warm makes it a nigh on impossible to cutIn the middle of difficulty lies oppurtunity0 -
I have the Rachel Allen BM too, I've probably had it for about a year and it does produce lovely bread, in a 'proper' shape and the two holes were never really that bad. I've never had a bad loaf from it. I never use it these days, but I used it a lot when I was at my old job and didn't have time to bake bread by hand, and DH used it sometimes because it was simple enough for him to just tip in the ingredients. The poor thing is sitting unloved in the corner of the kitchen.
It's a shame it's been discontinued, it was a great little machine.0 -

I use an electric knife for my bread, works a treat and doesn't take up any room. Also handy if you have a big piece of meat/ham to carve.
I always cut the large loaves down the middle, then put cut-side down and cut half-slices, find it much easier and think there's less waste:)0
