Well they do have some use - like fixing the roads, lights, infrastructure, organising important stuff, stopping your granny tripping over uneven paving, planning controls, licensing, and many more. They may not do all the functions well, and they may do other useless stuff too, but not everything a council does is a waste of time.

Possibly an employer should not be offering over generous terms when they are using others peoples money to pay for them.
Quite so. That doesn't mean that the offers can be simply written out of history without agreement from those affected.
This could be a Winter of discontent.
It is amusing how many uneducated types assert that public sector workers do nothing of any value. A well-supported strike for a few days would bring chaos to the country.

Councils have been clever though. A lot of essential workers are outsourced or temps so won't be going on strike.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Plus a lot of the actual frontline workers are poorly paid and can't afford to lose the money, even if they are actually employed. Sack them all for me. Total waste of space. Just send some blokes round every week or so with a bin truck and I'd be happy. I'd even be happy to pay them cash on collection and do away with council tax altogether.
