We completed today :D just over 3 months after our offer was accepted. We're moving in properly on Thursday.

I'm slightly daunted by all the work that needs doing, but looking forward to the challenge.

    Congratulations!!

Thank you! :D We exchanged on Friday :) How are things with you?

Rubbish! Still having problems with the Environmental certificate. The company that the vendors got the certificate from have been bought out by the company that won't issue us a certificate!!

Oh no, what a pain :( It's always the things you don't expect that seem to catch you out. Have they given you any idea on time?

No! They have sent the old certificate and said that one has already been issued so issue us another one! He said that didn't work last time so therefore we would need to go back to the council and collate the information then send that back to the Environmental company and then get a certificate! Not got a clue how long that is going to take!!

Okay sooo my house buy is back on - the estate agent rang yesterday to say that the seller really doesnt want the sale to fall through but can't afford to budge on the price/repairs allowance etc.

I really don't want to lose the house as it is really cheap for the area and I guess the price possibly reflected the fact that she knew the rendering needed doing - I can't find anything I like nearly as much and I have been looking on this area on Rightmove for way over a year.

Anyway, I've said that as long as we can hold off completion til end of May/1st Week June I am still on (gives me more mortgage-free saving time - well an extra payday anyway)

I do wonder if the rendering quote I got was at the high end of what it would cost anyway - so I will have to get multiple quotes when I move in.

I've sent the contracts back .. so I guess exchange is imminent? I don't know how they decide when exchange happens so I am waiting for my solicitor to let me know when I can forward my deposit to them.

Lots of good news in here recently :T

Come on guys, I found this one page 7 of the forum!

    Good news from me :j

Contracts have been exchanged today - completion set for May 27th (my preferred date as it means I get another payday but its not the beginning of June where i'd have to essentially pay nearly 2 months mortgage in my first payment)

    Anyone else got good news??

Going to see a house tonight that I've actually got excited about seeing :-)

Hope it lives up to expectations (or has something obvious to rule it out straight away so I don't have to make any sort of decision!)

Edit: I should have waited a couple more minutes, I too had to look through 7 pages trying to find the thread!

Another one struck off the list, I'd consider it at maybe 20% under asking. I suppose there's nothing to lose with a cheeky offer but seeing as it only came on the market yesterday I may wait a while.

I told the estate agent there and then it was too expensive, she told me she'd sold a similar one round the corner for 10 grand more. I've just looked it up and that was in 2008!!

Actually getting fed up with the whole house buying thing now. Seems to be a disparity between how much sellers want and how much stuff is worth, and it doesn't matter how much we love a place, if it's overpriced we're not going to get a mortgage on it.
