Good news from me too! We exchanged a week yesterday and are moving tomorrow!
We turned the water on and had a lovely indoor water feature for a while but my lovely, clever hubby fixed it. We have no gas yet as there is no gas meter but they are coming to sort that - the joys of buying a repo! We have a beautiful old Victorian house for not a lot of money and we love it. Good luck to everyone else!

Really struggling to find anything suitable for our budget. Has anybody had any success by letter dropping potential houses to see if they were looking to sell? If so how did you go about it. Its something i'm considering

Well we had hoped to be able to do a deal on the house we felt best suited us but it seems it's not to be.

I made two offers, £125,000 and then £127,500 - both of which were declined. The property is listed at £142,950 so of course they are well within their rights. Apparently they won't go lower than £138,000 which leads me to believe they'll struggle to sell as I cannot see anyone offering 97% of the asking price in this climate. I have taken a 11% 'hit' on the asking price of mine which I understand is average and I was hopeful that we could all the vendors of the property we had in mind would do the same.

Hi guys can I join in too?! We have seen a house today we really like. It was initially on the market for £175000 and they have recently dropped the price to £165000. My understanding from the agent is it is a landlord selling numerous properties to free up some cash. So we are seriously considering going in with a very cheeky offer of around £145000. Do you think that is too low?!

Missed a phone call from the EA today and was too late to call back now will havta wait till sat morning to find out what they wanted, I'm fearin the worst that someone had put in a higher offer. I have just been waiting for the Halifax to get an employer reference.
  • Can I join? We've had an offer accepted and now need to do our formal mortgage application. However our solicitors and conveyancing are part of the deal we've got with the mortgage thing so until our meeting (Thursday next week) we can't instruct the EA which solicitors to send letters to or anything. She's sending over the offer papers and the SOLD sign has gone up outside the house but feeling really keen to get everything moving.

To get this point has been a real struggle (problems with OH's contract, back payment in arrears, sorting out my credit file etc) and we are keen to get the ball rolling. Tried asking the mortgage people about the solicitors today but apparently it's an umbrella legal thing so it's just "whoever is available" when we have our formal mortgage interview.

I wouldn't mind as much but because I've been doing my research and coming on here my OH's leaving it to me to organise though I can't complain because he did the hard work saving up our deposit :o

Hello, saving a separate post by tagging on here.

Have seen a house we love, haven't viewed yet as need to know that it may be in our price range. On the market for OA £350k, bought for £329995 in Nov 2006, zoopla sticks it at value £322k (but I know zooplas reputation). What would you offer? House is all done up although not to our tastes, doesn't have it's own drive yet (but can be done), we'll be in a very strong buying position soon. Opinions?
