FTBs. 7 weeks after offer accepted, 10 weeks after offer made. Mortgage offer, survey done, searches back, only a couple of building regs issues and chancel to worry us. Vendors keen to move, due to exchange end of the month.
Despite borrowing 1.9x combined salary multiple at 85% LTV and squeaky clean credit record, lender ended up with a 40 page file of financials and went through multiple levels of underwriting. We're just hoping to get done before the banks get even more twitchy in this economy!
Still signed up to rightmove alerts and watching all the overpriced piles of rubbish that we were told we couldn't afford anyway, dropping through our budget and into a world of trouble beyond. We are happy to be paying a figure we can afford, and that the bank and surveyor think is reasonable, for a house we think we'll love living in. I think that's why we got into this in the first place...0 -
Just wanted to update.
Received a letter from our solicitors to tell us that our purchasers and our vendors are ready to exchange and asking if 26th Nov is ok for completion. Yes, yes, yes!!!Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky'

Can I join?
I put an offer on a repo last Monday and it was acceptedI applied for the mortgage on Thursday (had a AIP when offered etc) now I play the waiting game. If this falls through for whatever reason there really isn't anything else that takes my fancy at the moment. The properties here seem to be either way above what I can afford or at the bottom end of the market (mobile homes and such like which are too small).

I saw my house today, it has walls and a roof! Amazing the progress they can make in only 2 weeks. Very please with what I saw of the site, I had a good wonder round and took loads of photo's. The builders seemed friendly enough.0

Went to see the house we are buying today and they dropped a bombshell saying they want to charge £700 for lights and carpets to remain which we thought were included. Originally they countered our offer with 145k house as seen which we said no so a few weeks later they said meet in the middle which we assumed was a the same as seen status. Once you add the £700 they have not in the least met in the middle. Fell very downhearted about it now and not sure we want to contine with it.0

Still waiting for contract which has been in transit since early last week.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

Finally received all the documents prior to exchanging (contracts, local searches, mortgage titles etc). Still can't believe that my solicitor sent these out via 2nd class! Have just spent the last hour or so wading through the papers making sure that everything is clear. Still have some minor questions to ask but will send off signed documents on Monday.
Everyone in the 3 property chain wants to complete by Xmas. Keeping my fingers crossed. It has now been 7 weeks since my offer was accepted.0 -

Check whether the carpets are mentioned on the description - if they are they would normally be included unless the description states otherwise.0 -
Accepted for mortgage, most searches back, getting an additional building survey done this week, my current flat is now rented out so I'll be getting some income to cover the other mortgage.
Just trying to consolidate all our savings into another account now ready for the deposit - I remember the wierd feeling of having lots of cash pouring into my account last time this happened only to see it disappear never to be seen again into my flat (which bombed out of the market)
Looking forward to fixing a date - I've booked time off work for the 13th December in the hope that'll be moving day...Tim0
