    Okladies here we go

Monty Don lookalike...Martin...aka hunk picked me up at 6.30 pm all scrubbed up and ready to go me that is in my best bib and tucker ...he was fab, my goodness old fashioned gent opened car dor etc got to LETS meeting, seems he is well known locally as a nice fab guy who helps the oldies with there gardens, grass cuttings.

Left LEts and went to our local posh place for a meal..so the gen on him, his wife died 3 years ago leaving him with a baby to bring up, little girl who is just 3, he manages the single dad b it with help from his family and works as Head Gardener on local rich blokes estate and lives in on the job....he has beautiful dreamy choccie eyes and his voice is like one of those that you can listen to all night....I went on to tell him about ex Oh and blond flozie he just said I know all about it (local gossip of the nice kind towards me) and he thinks my dad & co are wonderful for mortgagig there souls to keep the garage afloat....Night ended with Annie56 all a quiver that she had managed to have a date with this guy, hes perfect and therein lies my dilema after exOH would any man who showed interest in me be perfect.?? kissed moi goodnight on the doorstep and I didnt sleep a wink all night..boy have I got it bad...ahem behave Annie56

Today Sunday, he turned up with his daughter, a small version of himself with curly hair and a tooth missing lol...said he was just passing and thought hed introduce us to each other, well after a nice walk to the park and me having a go onthe swings and sliding down the slide and just acting daft I waved them cheerio I thought mmmmmmmmm

Eight o clock tonight phone call, he has tommorow off, so do I and were all 3 of us going to the seaside,Borth my choice and he has a Labrador too called Dizzy and would you believe it he knows my dad, his mother knew mine, small world, he says Im like a breathe of fresh air, Im not shopping minded, his wife left lots of debts he didnt know about, and its taken him last couple of years working his main and job and part time job to clear them, and now hes ready to start his life again, he was quite open that he had loved his wife, but didnt know about her other hidden life of debt and shopping and catalogues.

I have good vibes about this, but am taking it oh soooooooo slooooowwww...hes too nice to be a mistake, but my divorce is heard on Tuesday, then by Tuesday pm I hopefully should be free....then I can actually enjoy this new found friendship and hopefully more as a single lady should...early days, slow is best.....

Hes a mine of gardening info, tips, thinks I have done wonders on my lottie, and can see that I have a good frugalistic financial ethos .

Yes ladies he kisses are dreamlike and old Annie56 melted but commonsense prevailed but Im off to bed as I have a 9 am start with Martin and his daughter and doggy and moi and hope the weather keeps good least I know Im not going to bored this week...

Keep fingers crosses for me... I really like him and think given time things may progress but Im aking it slow and easy...anything from this part of my life is for me, for once I have something to look forward too and will grab lifes opportunitiesas they happen.

Plus he has some lovley recipes for my apple collection, seems the angels are looking down on me....

So Im off to bed to dream of my hunk nd his lovley smile and have some hot moments lol no need for blasting my sheets wit hthe hairdrtyer tonight

See ya all tommorow night will post about my day out ...

    Annie56 xx

This thread is so bringing me out of myself lol.
Annie56 you go girl, I met the love of my life 7 years ago after two disastrous marriages and at a time when I was seriously not looking. The fact that he is quite a bit younger than me made me take it slowly at first, but I'm glad I didn't listen to peoples advice and stuck with him. My kids love him to bits (even tho eldest is only 8  yrs younger.) and he loves them, (even if my younger DD made him a grandad at 27 lol).

Hugs and spoons to those that need them. Best wishes to all x

annie56, you make me laugh - ah, poitin, nectar of the gods!

You reminded me of a story my dad always used to tell: at the end of the war, they couldn't get any brandy for the Christmas pudding, and my grandad had ... acquired.... some Polish grain spirit from somewhere (he was in the Navy and they could always get al-kee-hol). My grandmother tipped some of this liquid over the Christmas pudding and set light to it. It burned away beautifully and everyone applauded. She blew it out and served up the pudding. My grandfather had a spoonful of pudding almost at his lips when it burst into flame again - and it kept spontaneously combusting all afternoon... never for very long, but for long enough to ensure that no-one had any Christmas pudding :rotfl:

Reminds me of when my step dad came home with some from Ireland. Unfortunately my mum got up in the night to take a swig from the lucozdade bottle - but had the pochine in it! Funnily enough she said never again""
At least the fish fingers are still frozen, that's what I keep telling myself (Truly Madly Deeply)

I just want to send my best wishes to Frugal and Katholicos about your fathers' illnesses, stay strong ladies.xxx

Youngmummy, don't panic!! Have you had a look at the Old Style Christmas thread for frugal ideas? I would also suggest talking to your mum and explaining the situation, I'm sure I would rather my child had no worries or stress than bought me a gift at christmas. Join your local Freestyle or Freegle in case someone is getting rid of their old tree if you desperately want one, and think about doing online surveys if you have spare time to make a wee bit extra (you can get paid this in Amazon vouchers for example) Most of all, remember that Christmas should not be a time of stress or unhappiness, and when all is said and done your loved ones would rather spend time with you than receive a gift which you have gone without a meal or essentials to provide. :)

thanks for your advice it is much appriciated. i dont get on with my mother of father. and on the brink of telling bf's parents where to stick it as all they have done for the last 12 months since we got our own place with our LO is control us and have ago at us all the time. we're young prents both 18 but we are coping they dont know our financil situation atm as they are struggling there selves but they are always hipacritical. they will always have ago at us but never look at there own situation first. we are also looking into fostering when older and more financially stable but i was told by MIL i wouldnt cope! my son had to have major surgery when he was 5 months old and we coped with that. and everythink else we have gone through together... sorry for the rant :(.... wasnt aiming at anyone just had to get it off my cheast:o. anyway back to the subject of finance im sure we will get sorted in the end :Dtbh we havent got a choice as no one in family or frineds too help :(... and if we asked MIL or FIL like i said would end up in an arguement and them having ago at us rather than support

sorry everyone just really upset at the moment, but im sure willl all work out just sick of bf's parents thinking they know best all the time and never being understanding we have mentioned about our financies before and ended up in a blazing argument. they ow me money which they first lent a year ago and havent put a pennie of it up ... decided to have there bathroom done instead which had nuffink wrong with it there reason 'we thought we would treat our selves' :( and im suppost to be the one that needs to get my priorities right !!!! as mil put it urgggg

sorry all will leave it at that (sob sob) xxx
hope you are all well thanks for all your advice
wil post again soon and promise to be in a much better mood

My last fond memory of my grandad who was Irish was of his garden shed going BOOM BANG:eek::eek::eek::p and the side walls blasting outwards and him sitting looking bewildered, he had a pochene(SP?)still in there that blew up, I will never forget the swearing as he realised that his precious liquid was all gone:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:and the only thing that shut me up whilst I was teething as they dipped my dummy in it:eek:..

Ah fond memories, Im going to be sitting down on Thursday with a glass of the amber nectar ( my dads whiskey) ready to hear what the Spending Review entails, surely theres some good amongst the bad :(:( we can only wait and see...

Has been a good day, weather warm till about 6 then its gone really cold time to give my bed a blast with the hairdryer:T

Pleasant thoughts to all and hugs to everyone that needs them, I need one myself :rotfl:

    Annie56

...and I've got a recipe or two for poteen somewheres amongst my books (as the author says - "put in there just out of interest"....). Anyone who wants it "for interest" had better PM me...:rotfl:. No - I havent tried it...(EDIT: On second thoughts - maybe you'd better not...in case you're the polis....).

The Spending Review is Wednesday - though things have now started to leak out in the Sunday papers, as its now all ready. Havent been able to spot any mention re bits that interest me
    personally yet..:cool:_pale_

Spotted mention of benefit frauds having a "3 strikes and you're out" policy implemented and thought "Fair enough". Spotted mention that people will be fined £50 if they fill in a benefit claim form incorrectly - WHAT??! Anyone can make a mistake and shouldnt be penalised for a formfilling error...

EDIT: Annie56 - now caught up and seen how the date/s went. He sounds nice - going well so far then...
  • I watched "Boys from the Blackstuff" yesterday and I really hope things don't get any worse! I became a carer for my Dad a few months ago, (although I only got paid recently) and it 's now ended up that I look after both my parents as my mum had a heart attack a few weeks ago and is still poorly. I am struggling at the moment and the news that CB may be cut to over 16's fills me with dread as I have 3 girls and one is now 15. If it wasn't for the tips I have picked up on this forum I truly don't know where I'd be expecially as I'm now running 2 households! My granny used to call the poteen, "her special medicine"!!
  • Morning All.

hugs for Chocclare and co, what a sad situation. Hope things are loking a bit brighter for Frugal and Katholicos this morning, too!

    Yummymummy, don't fret about bringing your troubles here, a problem shared is a problem halved. I don't get on with my own parents, either, so I can see where you are coming from there. Have a {{hug}}
Icelandic queen, hugs for you too, hope your mum makes a good recovery.

Annie56, this all sounds very nice and positive, I hope you have a lovely day today, and the weather is good to you, too.

I am getting more and more nervous as Thursday looms closer....

  • Couldn't sleep last so decided to catch up on the thread, i look forward to reading this as much as i enjoy watching Corrie!! What a great community we have on here !! Loved the poaching stories, and Mardathas son in a bin bag story made me literally laugh out loud.

Annie 56, how exciting, he sounds as if he ticks all the boxes and is obviously just as keen on you, fingers crossed for todays date, hope all goes well.

This evening we have got DS, 22, and his Gf coming for tea, gonna do an old fashioned stew and dumplings, yum! He is off work today as he fell down the stairs on Saturday just as we were leaving for the evening do of the wedding we were at! It came up like a balloon, he has been resting it all weekend, he couldn't face the idea of A&E on a Saturday night!! But may go today, luckily GF is a nurse and i know he is in very good hands.
DD and BF are off on a mini- cruise to Amsterdam today, cost them £30 each, two nights on the ferry and a day in Amsterdam. If they had chosen to eat on the boat the price jumped to £174, which would have been totally out of the question. So i am going to make them up lots of sandwiches and goodies to take with them. Kids seem sorted at the mo, touchwood, and when they are happy so am I. Especially when i remember what my poor sister and family have just been through! Good news here, my niece is doing really well, she has been able to return to Corfu, she had her surgery in Berlin, and does not need chemo, as the biopsies show that the cancer had not spread. So hopefully after a period of recuperation she will be able to get on with her life and start her studies in Athens as she had planned.

I am also wondering what Wednesday will bring for this country, i too have this instict that before long there will be civil unrest. I saw an amazing interview on Question time, where Paxman was discussing the cuts with Heseltine and Ken Loach. Starts with a question about the "deserving and undeserving poor" !! Loach is brilliant and says shouldn't we really be talking about the "undeserving rich", heres a link if anyones interested http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6OLguh7_P8
Heseltine really gets his knickers in a twist!!
Well off to shake my wine, should be able to add the finings today so will be bottled by next weekend, lovely Shiraz, works out at £1.30 a bottle...........Hope everyone has a good day :)
