Theres a lot that need hugs right now so here's one to all of you that do.
I'm not much of a Christmas decoration person either. Last year I didnt even send cards, just emailed evryone and told them I would make a donation to 2 charities of my choice instead. It felt good

    Northwest,

congratulations! May you have many, many happy years together

To all you lovely bunch here on OS, thanks so much for your supportive comments. Much love to you all!

My grandfather had a spoonful of pudding almost at his lips when it burst into flame again - and it kept spontaneously combusting all afternoon... never for very long, but for long enough to ensure that no-one had any Christmas pudding :rotfl:

...and that little gem gave me a much needed laugh too :rotfl::rotfl:

CC, I can't even imagine losing an only child, that should just never happen. Sending healing vibes for those poor parents, that hurt will last forever.
Re the cuts on Wed, alcohol is quite a good idea I think ! Cos sure as hell we wont be able to afford it afterwards!

I'm liking the idea of a 'cold and flu' hamper. A friend of mine is one of those impossible to buy for and this has given me the idea of doing a man flu survival hamper with cold remedies, paracetemol etc maybe hot water bottle too. I could knit a manly cover for it as most hot water bottle covers are quite girly. Another christmas present sorted.

The had some dark tartan hottie wattie bottie covers in my local £1 shop this week, would be OK for a male.

youngmummy this is the best place to come, full of support laughs and general shannigans!! Tree em what's that. We gave our artificial one away two years ago as 1)i was on a cleaning spree 2) i prefer real ones. I wouldn't worry about tree's yet, after all its only October. Instead look on your local freecycle or gumtree they might be people giving them away.

CRANKY40 my cats are exactly the same, that's one of the reasons why we gave our fake tree away, darn cats kept climbing in the box  the little pigs.

Annie56 !!!!!!!!! You naughty woman ! Keeping us in suspense!

Well we've had a fab weekend so far, went to my OH school reunion, the food, sights well all of it was amazing. All organic, homegrown nosh and it was lovely. We took the boys with us, so while OH caught up with old friends we wandered aroumf the coutryside.
So today got fed and watered at inlaws, went for more walks in the coutryside, veyr relaxing and gorgous.
Also went to the car boot sale and spent a whopping £6.10 between us but got snips (DS2) a pair of pj's and 3 jumpers. coddy(DS1) a spy game and i bagged a M & S dress for a £1 :j. couldn't find any jumpers for coddy though so will have to keep looking.

Went to B & M and the lego sets are brill, so going to get the construction set, fire station and police station all for £32 and some older boys lego for coddy. So xmas is on its way here.

Well better get off as i'm shattered and need some sleep. I've done far too walking and my legs are aching me.

  • Things just got a bit tougher here. :o In opening up the fireplace OH has damaged the old back boiler he was trying to remove which is still cnnected to the water tank. In order to switch off the water he had to knock down the back wall of the shed to get to the pipes. Have had to switch off the mains water now so no water tonight and he's away all day tommorrow so can't get the replacement pipes till Tuesday. The kitchen project is a nightmare so far. :o At least my furniture restoration is going ok. :D
So today has been working a 10 hour shift, then mopping up sooty water all evening.
Still, despite the kitchen being a disaster zone, we still haven't resorted to take away food (which isn't in this month's budget) and had slow roasted pork rolls for dinner

Hope all those with real problems (unlike mine) get resolutions soon.:)

Oh, my days. At least I'm not the only one that any kind of repair job seems to morph into a major reconstruction and cost four times more than you expected.

Last boiler repair resulted in needing a new foor and repairing the joist to the sub cellar in the kitchen, ergo battered bank balance. Deep flippin' joy.:(

Good stuff on resisting the take away.:A
