Well done Jamanda! I too was offered a job yesterday after a year of searching, applying and interviewing. I am not much younger than you and I was seriously thinking that I was on the scrap-heap too due to my age.
See? There is hope and there are employers out there who value age and experience!0 -
Congrats Jamanda. Well done!!:T

Good for you, Jamanda! Well done. I started in this job at the age of 56 and am still here seven years later. Meanwhile lots of youngsters have come and gone and others have taken a year off for maternity leave. There's life in us old dogs yet!0

At least it gives others hope in what is the carnage of the job market.
Thanks very much for all your good wishes. It's mad isn't it. I couldn't wait to tell you - you understand what it means.0 -
I had to go out and buy food for my poor boss who is housebound today and I went into Asda's (not my usual place to shop). Thanks to this thread I thought I'd check out the flour - smart price plain and self raising flour at 42p and two bags of strong white @ 50p rolled back from 60p. They had loads.
You can put flour in the freezer for 24 hours to kill any bugs. You can leave it in there if you've got spaces to fill...
ETA congratulations to Jamanda!0 -
Have to tell you all. At the grand age of 57 and three quarters I have just been offered, and accepted, a full time proper job! I'd reconciled myself to the scrap heap because of my age, but I got it because I have the experience.
Can't believe it. I've been looking for A G E S.fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -

OMG, it is cold up here in east Norfolk, near the coast and it has been raining quite heavily.
Had to put the heater on in the caravan or die freezing. :eek:Sat here in a long sleeve t-shirt, a cardigan, tights, my slippers and a scarf.
Brass monkeys come to mind.:rotfl:
Having ham, egg and chips for supper and a damn good slug of whisky before bed.
Hope it doesn't rain tomorrow as we want to go to a local bootsale.

Called into Tesco on way home & had a look at the cartons of orange juice as I shall need one early next week. Usually buy their own brand 'Discount' one (the one up from 'Value') as I like the taste & it's resealable.
It's gone up from 56p to 62p! 10% increase. So not just the basics like flour prices rising.0
