For all those struggling with the housework, my motto is "count the small victories". I felt really rough on Monday, and the recycling bin in the kitchen was full. The big bin to empty it into is at the front of the house and up a flight of stairs. I didn't empty the bin, but I was very pleased with the 2 empty milk cartons that I carried up and put outside :rotfl:
Can I also add my dad to the OCD cleaning register please? He once asked his girlfriend to get rid of the house phone because it was making the living room look untidy and there was a perfectly good phone box across the road.
My small son and I live in a happy muddle. The kitchen is my first priority, so I don't poison visitors, I have a good sitting room which is usually tidy so that visitors do think I clean.....we mostly live in the front room which looks like a bomb has gone of in a toy/dvd/book shop. All ds's treasures that have been dragged home from charity shops/bought from car boot sales etc live in here. It's our comfy room and we love it.
Loved this post so true.
with morning sickness well most of day sickness I do what I can.
I dont hoover until end of day as whats point kids mess it up tonight dident hoover throughrht too tired can wait until morning.

Hi all...
Phew just in from work at the garage..blimey forgot how rude some folk are...she told me i ought to be ashamed of what Ive done to my exOH took her money then said if your one of his conquests I suggest you visit the local Sexual Diseases clinic maam...if not then think of it as a lucky escape...she looked quite pale think I hit home there...
Well hunk has agreed to going out tommorow night to a wait for it a LETS meeting first then a meal and he said He would love to come for Sunday lunch blimey 2 dates for the price of asking for one worra bargain of the day!!!
Need to do some serious cleaning then wondered why I was being given the hint to heat my bed up with a hairdryer then realised it was for AnnieG blimey thought I was in for a night of passion lol..
Hunk looks like Monty Don of Gardners World fame complete with moth eaten jumper and cords....with a lovley accent think hes from down Devon way...
Thanks for the lovley messages...and the chicken stock tips, Im going to do a nice chicken and sweetcorn batch of soup...
Am off to bed now and will try blasting between the sheets with my hairdryer lol
Things ARE going well with the hunk then:D. Just wait and see if he calls you "m'dear" then you'll know he be from Deb'n.
References to hot beds - and you don't mean gardening raised beds...:rotfl: - now dont leap on him too fast Annie...give the poor guy a chance to eat his dinner first:rotfl:.
Well - you've certainly got quite a "new life" going for you already - that and the speed of the divorce going through. You don't hang around...:rotfl:
Somehow I think that business will be going back into "fast forward" mode pretty soon with you at the helm:D.
As for that catty comment from that woman - blow her....I'll rephrase that awful modern phrase of "Whats your probLEM?" into telling yourself "Hmm....looks like she's jealous of me for some reason. Now what have I got going for me that she wishes she had?". I should say the answer to that is probably your "get up and go" from what we can see here on MSE:D (Its surprising JUST how often a catty comment turns out to be because the person concerned IS jealous of something you have or they think you have).0 -
I remember reading a book years ago - can't think of the title now. Anyway, the author observed that whenever his dogs were out of sorts they would seek out wild garlic and eat as much as they could. Always seemed to work apparently..
Well - pleased to hear that and its a timely reminder to me that I'm planning on a bit of guerilla gardening putting some ramson seeds into a suitable location soon;):D0 -
On the other hand he could react by sighing heavily and sarcastically and doing the lift eyebrows/quick dismissive flick upwards of head that I would personally in those circumstances (the quick way to "say" - "You're not STILL trying to panic people into resigning are you? - IDIOT"). Employers DO "play that little game" of trying to push people into resigning in whatever way they can think up - and comments like that are part of that "game". Your O.H. needs to take a deep breath and think "Here we go again...yet again...yet again" (in a sarcastic "tone of voice") to himself when that accountant does that - and just take whatever practical action is necessary as regards that job/finding another job and try to disregard "the monthly ritual".
Not easy - but it IS an employer tactic and to be treated as such.
I know that in my head, but it does get trying month after month, but he's at the stage now where he thinks as long as I get paid every month I don't care. Which is a real shame as he used to enjoy the job & will actually be sad to go, as he really likes the people he works with, just not the upper mangement.
But our fingers are well & truly crossed that the new year will be a new start!
Thanks to everyone for the msg's of support0 -
Well - you've got a head start on me then in that respect...I wouldnt have said boo to a goose at that age:rotfl:. I think, in hindsight, that my parents brought me up "wrapped up in a cotton wool" to a large extent - and for the best of motives in many respects......They knew just how bad the world/other people could be and tried to shield me from it...I can see that now in hindsight and so can they...
It was one HECK of a shock to come out into "the big wide world" in some ways...
I think it took me until only the last few years to realise that some people just seem to enjoy being gratuitously nasty/stupid/etc (delete as applicable)......:o. It might/will take me quite a lot longer before I can summon up enough goodwill to feel sorry for them for being that way.....
I so agree!
My parents brought me up like this. I was an only child & had my 55th birthday two weeks ago. I was brought up to be nice & thoughtful & have been walked over for a large part of my life because of this & when I have stood up for myself have been loked at as if I was the devil incarnate because it's not they thing people expect from me!
Can't win can you?0 -

Me too! Bought loads of flour about a month ago, i have a larder in my utility room, however noticed yesterday that my stocks of flour and sugar had all got damp, NOOOO!!! Sugar had gone hard and one of the bags of flour actually had mould on the wrapper. I think it must be caused by the condensation from when i use the tumble dryer!!! I have moved/stuffed all the bags into a cupboard in the kitchen and pray that they are still useable!!Hippy, you want to try being 60 and buying yourself a sherbet fountain and a pkt of Lovehearts !

Story of my life at the moment!!!!!:rotfl:
Annie 56 really looking forward to hearing how the date goes, hunk sounds lovely. I love a bit of romance:heartsmil:heartsmil
Was in Mr A last night at whoopsie time as usual, noticing more people each week hovering around the fridge where all the reduced items are kept! Things are reduced three times over the evening and the last reductions are real giveaway prices. There was almost a scrum feel round the fridge, didn't like it, a real sign of the times and a clear indication a lot of people are struggling:(
Coffee seems to be getting ever more expensive, but a real bargain at the mo is the Yorkshire tea, two 240 bag boxes for £7, they are usually £5.84 each!!!!! So at £3.50 a box they are the same price as Mr A's own brand, which i usually buy. My morning cup of tea is going to be even more of a treat now as i love Yorkshire tea:)
Hope everyone has a good day, love catching up with everyones news xx0 -
lovelife - it can often be quite difficult to store flour products in kitchens because of all the condensation from cooking and steam. We now try and keep all our flour products tightly sealed in plastic bags or boxes to prevent the damp getting to them.0

Coffee is expensive but depending on what you like, you can get it cheaper!!
i like Mellow Birds and in the big supermarkets it's pushing £2 for a 100g jar - in Wilko's it's only 98p a jar!!:j so i went and stocked up on it!!!0 -
