:rotfl: - well...thats put that graphically then....

Right - I'll go back to my cool/clear/objective/Swedish tv programme I am currently watching.

I have been able to send it over to a place some will guess;) - but its WAY too long a link (the route in I found) to give here - so I've asked for someone clever to put it up on the relevant thread on Discussion Time.

Its a 57 minute documentary by the Swedish TV channel - SVT Channel - entitled "WikiRebels - The documentary" filed under Kategori PressVisning - ie the Category is PressVisning. Only there till 13 December

    - at which point my Swedish gave up on me...

The way over I saw leads to it in English - but SVT has summat somewhere allowing for translating their programmes to English if its not in English to start with (which it might be - being Sweden).

Bit on there re the Icelandic banks fiasco...
  • Hi again

Well so much for my grand plan of catching up by dipping in and out. I have sat here in my fleecy dressing gown and caught up with all of the posts in one go. I decided that as I was not working any extra shifts this weekend I would treat myself to breakfast with you all and catch up. Having now finished my dippy eggs and toasted soldiers and started my third cup of tea I am ready to face the day :j.
OH seems no better yet, I know that he has not been taking the anti d’s for long enough for them to work yet but I am frustrated that I can not fix this problem. He has not been on the self help website that the GP recommended in lieu of the counselling (18 month waiting list). I knew that getting him on this would be a problem. I do think that he is sleeping a bit better now though. I am planning on getting him to do a few small jobs around the house today (planning on working on his sense of achievement to boost his mood).
I can not get into the christmas spirit at all this year :(. I think it is because I have only known about his debts for a few months and despite having the plans in place (and working) to sort them out they are still overshadowing everything. I am lucky in as much as I had saved for christmas anyway but every penny I spend on it feels like it should be spent on the debt. I have explained to DD17 and DD 14 that there are a few money problems this year and that they will not be getting as much spent on them, neither of them minded. They have been told the amount that we can afford and have chosen what they want within this limit.
Will finish the present shopping this weekend and put up the decorations. We usually have a large real tree but I have decided that this is an unnecessary expense in our current situation so will look for a reasonably priced artificial one today. I think I will feel more festive when the decorations are up.
Took my mum to my nan’s christmas party at her care home last night. I won a lovely candle table centre in the raffle that will make a nice christmas table centre with a few read and gold baubbles scattered around it :j. Nan has no idea that it’s christmas but did enjoy the party and insisted on blowing her party blower every time a raffle number was read out :rotfl:(I thought she was going to get us removed from the diningroom at one point).

Right it’s time to make a move and tackle the day. Hope you all have a good day.

I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.
  • Do not click this link if you are offended by bad language!!!

Someone posted this on Facebook, I thought Nuala especially and everyone else on here would be interested by this man, he's saying what we're all thinking, but his language is VERY colourful.

    Good morning everyone

Ceridwen – thank you so much for all the support. Another very well observed post from you. When I thought about it you’re so right, we do have to ask again (and again). Sometimes it seems to me that the only way you get things done over here is by complaining. And so I will ask! And as for not predicting other people’s reactions, well that is interesting about your parents. I guess they have all the usual love and emotions and just express them in their own ways e.g by keeping a stiff upper lip. I guess that has probably taught you a lot that will stand/has stood you well through tough times.

There ARE virtues to a "stiff upper lip" background I think - ie not crumpling under pressure. It simply does not matter to me what pressures there are - I will go and hide in my bed for a while/have one more glass of wine than I meant to/spend an evening listening to music or something when the pressures come and then "pour concrete on the upper lip" and sally forth again determined not to be "ground down".

So - I think it helps personally - once the "balancing factor" is thrown in of "I must have some emotions about the problem - so what are they? and how can I ensure they dont lead me into dealing with things badly if I can help it?" (Doesnt always work - but thats the aim.....)

Only a very quick one from me this morning as I have so much work to do and keep getting distracted!

Just wanted to give some big hugs to Nuala and Mrs Veg Plot and everyone else who needs one.

Just realised our bank balance is much lower than expected...not sure why, but have had to scrabble around for some money to pay the man who's coming to service our boiler today. Luckily I got £50 yesterday from selling our surround sound system to someone at work - it had been under our spare bed for 2 years so money for nothing, really. Hoping that somebody will come round today to buy my exercise bike too, so that'll be another £50.

Right, gotta go. Keep smiling everyone :)

Whoooo! Thank You God :)Thats my Chistmas present sorted !

Well, that's the decision made then and the cellar will be done! My income is as safe as can be expected in this climate so we shall see. I will set up a standing order each month and then pay chunks off it as and when I can. I will want it gone asap and I wouldnt want to jeopardise the friendship. I am pretty scared though to be honest as it is such a big job. That said, there is stuff growing in there at the moment so it will be nice to not have such a scary thing underneath my house! Posh it aint!!

I have plenty of wood to keep me going until about end of Jan/Feb so wont have to worry about that. Christmas is paid for. Coal is paid for and so all I would have to do is worry about feeding myself which is ok. Then all the extra money I get from my pub job will go to repaying blokey asap along with any extra I get.

Woo hoo!!!! Two fingers to the ex who said I would never be able to do it and thanks for clearing me out of cash so I had to do this and have discovered I am much more capable of stuff than I ever thought possible!!!!!

FTM, thanks a mill for your kind thoughts. That’s fab about the clothes! Enjoy putting up your decorations.

I usually make an occasion of it – stick on some carols, burn some Christmas fragrance oil in my burner and have a jolly time of it. Haven’t done it yet as waiting to hear if/when the man from heating company will abide by his promises to fix the thing. All the furniture has to be cleared so don’t want to add Christmas stuff to the mix if it’s all going to have to be moved.

BB, thanks for hugs. Hope you sell your exercise bike – it’s scary when you look at your balance and there isn’t as much as you thought/need!

Redlady – good luck with the cellar! Will it take long to do? Am so impressed at all you’ve achieved – yay for you!:T

(((((Mrs VP))))), hope your hubby responds to treatment soon. It can take a few weeks, sometimes longer but usually it's best to get a review if there's no improvement after 2 or 3 weeks. Glad he's sleeping a bit better. Just a thought but is it work looking on Freecycle for a Christmas tree? Hope you can take extra good care of yourself as it's such a tough time for you. BTW you have given me a massive craving for egg and soldiers! I only have crusty bread in but as soon as I have toasting bread, guess what I'm having! :D

:rotfl:at "pour concrete on the upper lip" ... I could do with a bit of that. You really do seem to be blessed with a level head and bucketloads of strength, I really admire that. And it's always good to hear of other people's coping strategies so I can try them!

Am still in my pyjamas and fleece dressing gown!:o But I'm about to go and smear henna mud all over my head so no point getting dressed properly yet.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)

You forgot the temper and not having much in the way of "tact and diplomacy" skills.....might as well get a "balanced picture"...:rotfl::rotfl:

    Some things I do well...others I'll draw a discreet veil over:o

Ahem...anyways....I like that phrase "This too shall pass"...very true..
