Catz - thanks for the muffin recipe. I may try those as they look quite plain and I am not a big sweet lover.
Not tried the basic plain recipe, only made the choc chip and banana ones which are really nice while still hot as well as cold! Want to try the double choc ones now! Have a really sweet tooth here!:o It seems to be a very adaptable recipe, just working out a Christmas variation, I have some dried cranberries in - perhaps with orange juice? Or some apple and cinnamon ones.
Getting the cellar done sounds like a fab idea, I am very jealous - would love a cellar! You must do what you are most comfortable with though re paying for it.
:T:j:T:j Great news Charlies Aunt! You must be soooo relieved!
I still have a lot of chest pain if I cough, so trying not to! lol Determined to de-clutter and clean the living room today (with dh's help) and get the Christmas tree up - hoping it will lift my spirits! Feel quite down and teary but think that is just a side effect of the virus. Normally in bad weather I am a baking whirlwind (energy allowing) but feel quite useless this time.:(
Been reading up on the Irish budget, seems so unfair on everyone! (((hugs))) to all affected by it!
Catz xOur days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

Paying for it isnt a problem and I would hope to have it repaid by the summer.
It's the fact that Mr GG is very good at what he does but it takes him FOREVER to get round to doing the job, hence I am trying to get the cash together now. The cellar is um, bare?? Like no floor, walls have had leaks (now sorted) pipes need removing, pointing and tanking done. Mr GG is doing a very good price of £3k (because he knows me and has done other work for me) and that also includes £200 for plastering the stairs wall (something I am desperate to have done)and the cellar would then be useable - and it most definitely is not right now.:eek::eek: I swear you could bury someone in there!
Did I also mention that from a personal level to have totally renovated the house within a year would give me a huge sense of achievement. My family have been through sheer hell with me this year and I think they would quite like it all to be over too!!!:rotfl:0 -

In that case - my verdict is go for it - I would if it were me.0 -
H1N1 is back - everybody go back to taking precautions like we did last winter.

Good morning everyone
Redlady, I think I would go for it since you seem certain you can pay it back in a short time frame. I find renovations of any kind extremely stressful and I think getting it out of the way would be great. The main thing that would stop me is if there was any chance your income might take a hit and paying it back might be a problem. I've never lived anywhere with a cellar, sounds dead posh to me!All true my dear! Often when I post I feel invisible and not part of things iykwim but you always notice and are lovely! You deserve a much better lot in life and I hope with all my heart that it comes right for you!
Thanks also for sharing your muffin recipe (did you write that out yourself - made me smile and it's so easy to understand). I got my first ever muffin tin on special offer in Lidl a couple of weeks ago and it is just begging to be used! I really fancy apple and cinnamon so hopefully will give that a go soon. :EasterBun
Ceridwen – thank you so much for all the support. Another very well observed post from you. When I thought about it you’re so right, we do have to ask again (and again). Sometimes it seems to me that the only way you get things done over here is by complaining. And so I will ask! And as for not predicting other people’s reactions, well that is interesting about your parents. I guess they have all the usual love and emotions and just express them in their own ways e.g by keeping a stiff upper lip. I guess that has probably taught you a lot that will stand/has stood you well through tough times.
Nargleblast (I do love your name, it makes me smile!) – thanks for the advice on appealing and for the encouragment.
Dippypud (another wonderful name!) – thanks for that link. I know the systems are different but I’m sure the advice is transferable.
Bluebag and Dee, thank you so much for the support … and to everyone else. I am SO sorry if I am forgetting anyone’s name because it has meant so so much to me. I wish I could do multi-quote on more than 3 because my brain fog does not allow me to keep much in my head at one time these days!
Charlies Aunt …. that is fantastic news, I am thrilled for you! :j:T:j
(((((Jediteacher))))), so sorry for what you are going through. Sorry to hear about your Father-in-law and I hope money comes your way. As much as you will miss the children I’ll bet they will miss you even more. I am 39 now and still remember all my teachers. I remember being devastated when I left some of them behind and when one left to have a baby. They are so lucky to have had you as it’s clear how much you care.
It is much milder here today and it feels like things are getting back to normal after the snow. There are only small patches left now but still quite a bit of slush on the roads. It's not so dangerous to go out now which is a relief. I am also glad for the sake of my heating bills!
Hope everyone is ok and big hugs to anyone who isn't.

Do not click this link if you are offended by bad language!!!
Someone posted this on Facebook, I thought Nuala especially and everyone else on here would be interested by this man, he's saying what we're all thinking, but his language is VERY colourful.

He is right! There has been no accountability from those responsible for the mess, it's the ordinary people suffering. My grandfather always said bad language was a sign of a poor vocabulary but in this case it seems to accurately describe all the toadies who have got away with this.Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!

Absolutely hysterical & so true.
