Morning all.
Thought I had better pop in whilst I seem to have 5 minutes free to myself and let you all know what's been going on in the sammy kaye household.
Firstly, Have a palarva with my mum at the minute - she got rushed to hospital two weeks ago. She had what she thought was an ulcer in her mouth and her teeth were tender, went to the dentist and got antibiotics for it, finished them on the following sunday, went to the dentist on monday for a check up as her teeth were still feeling tender, they took one look, got a second opinion from another dentist, rang her as an emergency through to bridgend hospital, she went tuesday morning, got seen there, got x rayed, documented and blood tests and she has to go back in two weeks now. She has a scab going from her central bottom small front tooth and it finished at her canine but its on the gum under her tongue. And they've no idea what it is - he did guess at narrowing of the artery in her mouth or theres something wrong with her blood. The scab has since fallen off leaving the back of the teeth really exposed and they are still clueless to what it is but said her red blood cells were low.so still no clue.
My sister on the other hand is still being a pain in the backside. She has a 'boyfriend' who she has never met face to face but spoken to on the computer through webcam and skype for the last 6 months - he was in iraq but has now gone home to the US and my sister has just flown out there - on Sunday - to go and visit him for 2 weeks!:eek::eek: leaving me with her 5 year old daughter. So not only do I have a 9 year old, a 6 year old and a 5 month old baby but I now have a 5 year old to throw into the mix, as well as Owen being home with a fever and a hyperactive jack russell! and shes not due back until the 19th! and even then thats IF she can get back. She missed her daughters first nativity (she was an awesome inn keeper if I do say so myself!) Plus to top off my sister saga she had her first smear test last month and had the results through three days before she left for the US - she was being taken straight to hospital and booked in for a colposcopy on the 15th which she deemed unimportant and rescheduled for when shes back from the US.:mad::mad: although sounds awful but me, mum and OH are all expecting her to come home pregnant. seriously if you knew her you'd expect it to. Although mum gets the feeling she'll come home and say she's moving to the US, whereas Im seriously doubting if she'll come home at all. But an added twist to that is her ticket to the US was paid for by my bfs workmate who is smitten with her and who has been staying at my mum/sisters house for the last 3 weeks. confused? I am!
my grandparents are in southampton and on a very unsafe hill, once its snowed or icy they are stuck there basically with no way out. My grandad has been in hospital after surgery on his arm too so worrying about my nan as I know she wont be amused at being on her own.
and breathe.......................
so sorry I have been absent for a fair while. We were all struck down with the lurgy and then the nightmare before christmas started! besides all the usual festive fun which fair play the kids have loved, nativities, fetes , family visits etc. am well and truely in need of a lie in. Owen has been sleeping on the sofa the last two nights - the first he was coughing his guts up and didn't want to keep me and holly awake, last night he came home full of fever, aching, sniffling coughing etc so he slept on sofa again - just given him a dose of beechams so fingers crossed he'll feel a bit better and will put him in a hot bath later on with some olbas oil in it me thinks. Wish he'd go to bed instead of laying moaning on the sofa though. why do men never pay any attention!
On a plus side though the cheque form my winnings is now in my bank and will clear on Thursday - so think I will be sorting out my debts then and will use some of the leftovers to get myself ahead with a months rent. We just missed out on a house last month but we are obviously in the right point range now at least. HV said she wrote a letter to council about our situation - must check up and see if she did.
Oh , holly moose has now learnt the art of rolling over too! god help. There will be no stopping her now.
anyway had better go and sort kiddiewinks. They've all just finished a mass round of tea and toast with butter and jam and I promised we'd make twinks later. Its bath time for now though because we got in late last night from my dad visiting - fair play they were all good as gold but grandad insisted on feeding them pick n mix all day! so this could be well amusing. On a plus side its getting me use to making ponytails /pig tails etc!
Right - any ideas how to watch three kids, push a buggy and walk a dog?Time to find me again0 -
Good morning,
Busy day today here. I need to clean the fish tank filter, tidy up upstairs and do some ironing and some more washing. I have some squishy bananas to use up, so banana muffins will be made....and possibly some more pink fudge as presents.
I've been looking at the pictures of the student protest. Would it be such a bad idea to bring back compulsory National Service for young offenders? Going to prison for a couple of weeks serves no useful purpose. Maybe I'm being stupid or old fashioned, or maybe it's unworkable, but in some of the cases we've seen this week, it would certainly make the punishment fit the crime.
Nuala, the Irish benefit system has been a source of frustration and bewilderment to my sister who lives in Cork and to myself who has been through the process by proxy, but eventually it sems to sort itself out. Please don't give up.
Take care all of you0 -
Hi Sammy
Its all happening then isnt it? Whew....
Yegawds sister gone off to stay with someone shes never even met ITRW like that.....gulp...been in Iraq (presumably US soldier)...gulp...gulp...o..h....brother..
Leastways you've got that cheque safely now:D and maybe the New Year bring rehousing for you:D
Everyone has been wondering where you were.
Take care.
EDIT: I guess that that boyfriends workmate paying for Sister to go to meet another man is based on "I'll pay for her to see this other man and get him out of her system/find out the truth about him and then she'll appreciate how nice/generous I am and come to me" thinking. Trust me - I'm a former naive Romantic - I know how a Romantic's mind works....<cough>0 -
Blimey Sammy, It's all go in your house. I hope your mum is ok, and I hope your sister comes home when she's supposed to!0

Maybe...maybe not for the National Service - PROVIDED there was a NON-military form of it for those who are pacifists (ie refuse to take part ever in any of the State's wars). So - something positive to the community - rather than in any sense destructive ever IYSWIM.
I DO understand (though not condoning) why anyone would get so angry that they would lash out at buildings, etc (though NOT police horses for goodness sakes - they are living beings....OR other demonstrators ditto). But a temper that flares against injustice and maybe expresses itself wrongly at times doesnt mean that the person isnt basically a decent person AND is anti-military. All needs taking into account in weighing up things..0 -
Good to know u ok Sammy, even if having a tough time, it strikes me that at least your sis didn't take her daughter with her into the unknown, so she must at some level appreciate that its not the most sensible thing to do. Take care0

Ceridwen - quite possibly, and other bloke in question seems like a nice guy - OH likes him and said hes a good kid and he seems to think the world of my sister and my niece. He even took my niece trick or treating and came to her nativity play. Oh and Yes he's a US soldier.
CRANKY + CERIDWEN - - to add insult to injury me and my sister aren't technically on speaking terms at the minute either over said other bloke. I suspect she is leading him on for his money so she could go and see the other fella. I'm seriously wondering if she will come back though since she is apparently head over heels for her new bloke but which have repercussions here as I'd end up a single mum to three kids - we almost adopted my niece just after she was born as my sister had her out in her buggy at all stupid hours of the night so she could be out drinking and getting high with her friends but she threw it back in our face and since then Owen has refused to point blank help my sister again but told him I wont see my niece suffering because of my sister but he's said point blank if she was to leave then he didn't want her here. Should add this is the same sister who decided to give custody of her other daughter to her dad and now rarely sees her and who has signed up to join the army after Christmas - she's been though all the tests etc and is just waiting for her join up date now.
so it could be an interesting new year.Time to find me again0 -

Given what Sammy has said, I'm more inclined to think she's left her with Sammy so she doesn't have to find a babysitter while she's there.
Sammy, I'm so glad your niece has you to look after her.0
