Can't find your post now to do a quote ceridwen but I think an unattended candle in a tin dish under a cast iron trough full of ice in the middle of a frozen field would have been pretty safe :) On the other hand I have had one on the bathroom windowledge alight all day (in a suitable container and no blinds/curtains etc to worry about) which I meant to put out this morning and forgot! So I do take your point.

    Beautiful pics charlies-aunt!

Sorry that England missed out on hosting the World Cup, am not a football fan but the news was full of it today.

We have had tonnes of snow today - I'm sure we haven't had it this good since I was a child. The birdfeeders I made out of a milk carton, mushroom punnet and another container are all well and truly covered by snow. I'd also used plant pots with their saucers on them containing water and food but they are buried now.

Ceridwen, thanks for the porridge info - I've never bothered soak it before but I will do that next time. I will just have to be that little bit organised the night before.

I'm not sick of it ... not yet anyway! I just went out in it and it thrills me! I feel like a kid in it. I'm really tempted to go out for a walk - it's so still and quiet and beautiful!
