I didn't see what happened to little Sam either, but it's always horrible to see a little one ill/in pain, so sending hugs in your direction, flowertotmum and family!
Well, I'm am still counting my blessings for having a fixed boiler, it would be just awful this weekend without heating  We're right down on the south coast so rarely get any snow, but on our way home from a night out last night, at about 12:30am, a few flakes were falling...nothing on the ground though.
Had a lovely time last night. My DH is a trustee of a very small new charity, and it was their launch event in London last night. A really nice evening and they made a nice little bit of money for their funds. They held a raffle of donated prizes from various companies such as Lush, Tie Rack etc. I bought a few tickets and won a lovely silk tie. That'll do FIL for xmas! Also won some nice bits from Clipper tea - some gorgeous Assam with Vanilla (mmmmm) and some everyday bags and some sachets of their organic hot choc.
Had a lie in and popped up the road this morning, then been working since about 12. Aunt coming round later, hope she doesn't stay too long as got loads to do! She's a clean freak as well so I'd better have a whip around with the hoover etc before then too....!
Keep warm everyone!

Happy Birthday Lindy - Loo
Thats sooooooooo sad about the children looking on whilst their friends get presents0 -
RANT ALERT ...... Ohhhh !!!!!!...I love my father dearly, don't get me wrong, I lost my Mum when I was twelve so I really do appreciate that he's still with us but at times I really could bury him under the patio!
After his bathroom cleaning epic this morning, he's insisted on doing some hoovering, OK that's fine - except that nothing has been dusted and the washed down (remember 18 months of building work) but OK, it helps. The he insisted on cleaning the hall but not the door frames or the skirting boards (not high or low). He's used a whole tin of spray polish to polish the table which as it sets of hubby's asthma means that DH had to leave the area so that held up the kitchen cleaning.
DH and I have now had to stop working as it's the only way that Dad will stop doing anything. Dad is now asleep in the chair and we're trying to do bits and pieces quietly. He's going out this evening so we'll be spending this evening cleaning whilst he's not here!
I really do love him but just sometimesRANT OVER!

ceridwen re dog poo When we walk our dog we always take wee bags with us. They are very cheap and we always use them and bring them home and pop them into the bin. Well where we live, there is lots of places to walk your dog and we have seen those bags tied onto trees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What on earth is that about? Then are people who tie the dog poo and leave it sitting there on the grass/ground!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then one day earlier in the year we were coming back home and someone had left a big bag of dog poo tied in a knot at top of the bag and placed next to our fence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dirty habits for sure Yuk It makes us so crossDo a little kindness every day.;)0

Dollydaydream as a now almost ex smoker I've always carried something to put ends in. Be it a bag, box or a purpose made cigarette stub pouch (think they are called stubbies) I got from the council officer selling them. With littering it's always a tricky one, if he used the ground and went to pick it up to bin it inside work no reason to fine him. Same applies with poo, I can't attach a bag to my dogs bum
Well we've had snow and more snow here meaning things will get dire as DP been sent home from work. No work = no pay. So purse strings just grabbed me like a noose! We were skint, now we'll be broke, remembering last year with many weeks without money I've just ended up in tears as Christmas was already going to be hard. Oh well, head high and brave face it is!One day I might be more organised...........

Hiya gailey good to see ya! To get labels off jars, I just soak them in bowl of cold water for a few hours, they usually just peel right off.
Any one seen sammy-kaye?, gorn orf spending her winnings me thinks.0 -
gailey, mince pies freeze really well - I bake them til they're basically done, then freeze them. They can be cooked in the oven straight from frzoen, as you need them. Yum!
I need to make my mince pies, actually, now there's a little bit of space in the freezer.
DH spent basically the whole afternoon watching football and rugby and playing computer games, whilst I studied and then hoovered the house, cleaned the bathroom and kitchen. I would have quite liked to watch the England match but needed to get the house clean. I don't want to be one of those nagging women, but my plan that he'll see all the cleaning I'm doing and feel guilty so do more just isn't working! I think the more I do, the more he lets me do it! Main problem is he doesn't seem to see dirt - and it's not like I'm particularly houseproud myself! If I think it needs doing, it definitely needs doing! :rotfl:
So I'm sitting here at the kitchen table now letting him get on with dinner on his own! No doubt I'll have to clear up afterwards though - I wouldn't mind but I quite like cooking, whereas I hate cleaning! I'd much rather do all the cooking and he did all the cleaning.
ANYWAY, enough of my domestic rage! LOL.
Bitterly cold isn't it. Family came round earlier and a great cold rush of air came in when I opened the door.
Just realised we've run out of milk! That means I can't have any tea this evening or tomorrow until one of us goes out! Oh well, I'll just have to have a glass of wine or two instead....or maybe an amaretto (that counts as medicinal, doesn't it?!)
Really need to lose weight, caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror this morning and realised I've put on loads. DH has lost weight, I think him being at home all the time now has been good for him, and bad for me, as he eats less/more healthily, and I eat more! He says I look beautiful just the way I am but realistically I could do with losing a stone, especially given that we want to TTC next year - need to be in tip top condition!
All this OS-ing is bad for me too, keep baking!

Oh yes - meant to say - cigarette butts on the floor is one of my pet hates, and I'm sorry but I'm actually glad that litter wardens are doing something about it. I'm sorry, dollydaydream, that you have to pay £50 when you can't really afford it, but cig butts are litter, they take years to degrade and are toxic to wildlife which sometimes eat them by mistake. Plus they look blimmin awful, scattered around everywhere. People don't seem to think of them as litter and it really annoys me!
The council can't put a bin outside every place of work, people have to take responsibility for their own actions.
Sorry, I told you it was a pet hate (one of many :rotfl: ) of mine!
As for dog poo, don't get me started! I think it's actually worse when people put it in bags and then leave them somewhere, because they'll never biodegrade! Don't get me wrong, dog poo left on the pavement is horrible and disgusting, and people who don't pick it up make me sick, but at least it will wash away when it rains!
Gosh I am in a ranty mood tonight, sorry!
