I've got GD up in my bed now, closed the curtains and she is under the 13,5 tog duvet and a throw. She's not too chesty now. I think she managed to get rid of a lot of mucous off her chest by throwing up, earlier this morning.
I'm slowly getting the fresh lemon, manuka honey mix down her, a half spoon at a time and after she had the chicken soup, it warmed her up and she got tired. hope she can sleep for a few hours.
My DD, who has been ill for a week, doesn't live here anymore, so can't nurse her unfortunately but her BF's mum is tending to her.
DH and I are on the soup now.:rotfl:
Wow, Lucky DIL and DD!!! If I am ill, or the children, my Mum tells me to keep away as she doesn't want to catch it0 -

Not snowing here but hail lying on the ground like snow and a bitter N wind. Freeezing cold.
Charlies-aunt, I remember 'weesily bobs' as a child although not just for Christmas decorations, and if you asked what was for tea, the answer was always, "Legs of chairs and pump handles!" Anyone else heard that one? Would have been an east end of london saying, I think.
primrose, what kind of pedometer have you got? I've tried several cheapy ones and none of them have worked properly - probably me doing something wrong - or not having a waist as suchbut reluctant to buy a more expensive one in case that's a dud too.

i am so annoyed it's crazy!!!
yesterday DH was fined £50 for throwing a cigarette butt on the floor, outside his work
there's no ashtray's around and no bins near so in his eyes he had no choice but to throw it - well he got caught by a litter warden, he offered to pick it up, she said no, you've already commited the offence - he said his reply was something along the lines of 'so your fining me for the intent? well if the council actually had more bins around and with ashtrays in them too then i would have had somewhere to put it'
in my eyes he did the crime so should pay the fine(even if we can't afford it) but i am still peeved with him - might put it to him that if he stops smoking then he won't get caught doing that and won't get fined!!
he's asked me to write an appeal letter for him but after doing a bit of searching on the net, i can't see the point in appealing it as he would probably lose the appeal and still have to pay the fine so we would end up having to pay out more than the fine is
either way i've decided i'm not writing a letter for him, he can do it, if he wants to appeal, he has the weekend off work so can do it himself!!
oh bother, i didn't realise the time, i best get my backside into gear and get moving, it's DD's star assembly today and she got star of the week :j:j:j so i'm off to go and see her get a certificate
will reply properly when we get back from school0 -
dollydaydream i dont think he should have been fined if he offered to pick it up, i would have picked it up and said it had dropped accidently,
i wouldnt pay it,
eek! i have a job interview on monday, i'm so nervous i have to walk there 2 miles each way as i'm skint, and cant afford the bus, i really hope i get it, i dont know why i'm so anxious, have felt like bursting into tears for no apparent reason, i keep asking sons and daughter if i can cancel christmas,
i'm only half joking, i wont as ive bought some prezzies but i just cant get into the christmas spirit, the xmas adverts are getting on my nerves, and its just about spend spend spend, and stuffing oneself stupid with food, it didnt go down too well when i suggested cancelling christmas, but i dont see the point in getting into debt over it its so silly, thats not what christmas is about,
they want mobiles and ps3 for xmas, i would have got a good hiding if i'd dared to ask for anyhing expensive for xmas, i just used to get somthing cheap and like it or lump it, and i'm an only child!

I agree. I would be inclined to appeal saying that in order to safely put it out he had to drop it and stamp on it. Say he intended to pick it up and bin it after this but that litter warden came along just then and told him he would get the fine anyway?

Yeah, well I want a million pounds and a ferrari, but that ain't gonna happen either!!:rotfl:Seriously, if they are old enough to be wanting grown up stuff like that, they are old enough to know the cold, hard facts about what you can afford! Teaching them that you can't always have what you want is no bad thing IMO
Good luck for the interview:D0 -

Hi
Christmas is just hype, the advertisers are under a lot of pressure and so it is even worse than usual.
How about insisting that if they want Christmas, it is advert free channels only on TV for a while?
Try freegle and freecycle for mobiles and ps3s? You never know?If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

.
I'm currently without one. I've had two Omron ones which clip onto my trousers but over time they've both fallen off and broken. I've looked at several small ones on on-line websites but it's difficult to tell how durable they are and how sturdy the waist clips are. I was for ever finding they fell off when I was pottering around in the garden or pulling my trousers down to go to the loo! My OH has one that you can hang round your neck although he always keeps it in his shirt pocket where it seems to function equally well, but a pendant wouldn't work for me as it would get in the way when doing household chores, and often the clothes I wear don't have pockets so I'm still searching for an ideal replacement.0 -
Mind you, my MIL is the same person who spent £75 just on chocolate, just in one shop,

Thanks primrose - I'd heard the omron ones were good too - maybe a small bag/pocket that could be pinned securely to your trousers (inside or out) would do it?Jan 2011 GC £300/£150.79 (2 adults, 2 teens, working dog, includes food/cleaning/toiletries)0
