It was me with the cat in the tree photo I think. I put it on the daily. I'll put it on here again linky
I'm dreading this year as we have a 6 month old Burmese cross kitten and there isn't a door or curtain in the house that she can't climb. I've bought a couple of 50p strands of tinsel from Asda, a cheapy box of baubles, and explained to the house elf that we will be only having these items on the tree this year. She's also going to be spayed this weekend, so that should take a little bit of the bounce out of her for a small while.0 -
Having a dilemma today, DS12 has two navy long sleeved thermal tops he wears under his school uniform, but school have said that he can no longer wear them under his short sleeved PE top as they show that they are not black to match the uniform. Have been searching online and cant buy black thermal tops anywhere, does anybody have any suggestions?
Primark have adult thermal vests in black. You might find an extra Small will fit your DS (I assumed DS12 meant he was 12 rather than he was your 12th child!). These are the ones in an orange packet.

I think Red Lady was talking about the famous (well, here in OSland anyway) Twink's Hobnobs.
they can be found here.

Great, we should have a thread on how to kitten-proof Christmas trees! With lots of photos!
My best peice of advice for kitten proofing a Christmas tree (and I have three of the furry little hooligans!) is to put baubles on the bottom of the tree - really cheap ones that you won't mind your furry beasts batting on the tree and then around the room when they have batted them off the tree! It means they get satsifaction at ground level and do not feel the need to attempt climbing heights! 11 years so far, and even one particularly adventurous kitten, and no tree crashing down around our ears!Yet.

Brilliant Cranky, that's the one! :T :rotfl:
I love it, your cat looks like (s)he is plotting world domination from the hideout in the tree!crickett1234 wrote: »My best peice of advice for kitten proofing a Christmas tree (and I have three of the furry little hooligans!) is to put baubles on the bottom of the tree - really cheap ones that you won't mind your furry beasts batting on the tree and then around the room when they have batted them off the tree! Parsonswife, sounds rotten, hope you feel better soon. At least you're doing all you can to stay comfy.
Brrr, it's cold, isn't it?! The sun is out and it warms up the front of the house during daylight hours.
Hope you all have a good day ... stay warm!Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

I think all cats succumb to christmas trees. We used to have an old, black moggy who hunted mice and shrews mercilessly and had no time for playing games. However, I spotted him batting a bauble! He even looked as if he was shame-facedly glancing around afterwards to see if anyone noticed!
I've been up all night. DS's noctournal habits finally got too much for me last night when I just couldn't sleep and he woke up two hours after going down while I was still trying to get to sleep myself. Thankfully DH is an absolute star. I was a mess due to lack of sleep and burst into tears, so he has taken today off work, even though there is an office party. He's sleeping at the moment and then I'll go to bed later when he's up and when I'm no longer running too much on adrenalin to sleep!0 -

I think the cat is saying "I told you to move the red light... I mean for goodness sake... I am not a cat of easy virture you know... and blue would be so much more becoming!!"
Gorgeous beastie by the way!!
Oh, and another tip... be careful with tinsel. Cats like to eat it... and though it does no harm really to their insides... it does make changing the litter box and unexpectedly festive experience!! I use fabric ribbon on the tree instead!"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -
My cats adore the Christmas tree and I think cricket is right with the cheaper baubles at the botto...make sure they are plastic and not glass ones! Ours get their play over while its being decorated in the main, but they do love to sit and watch it twinklng away.0

BB - our young cat had kittens just in time to be old enough to enjoy the tree but not old enough to have left home as it were, a few yearsago, it was hilarious it nearly drove my husband to a breakdown as they were constantly in the tree and the two elder girls who hadnt really bothered before discovered the tree too. Found the tree on the floor any number of times and by January there we no needles left on it at all. BUt was very funny to see kittens perched all through the tree fast asleep. I so wish we had taken pictures. What I learnt for the following year was to ensure that the tree was tied to a point behind it so that no matter what the kitties or the kids get up to it cant fall on top of you!! We did have a couple of years with a playpen around the tree but it doesnt work in this house so we make do with just the ties. And as someone else pointed out all the stuff I dont mind being batted gets stuck at the bottom and the nicer stuff at the top. NO glass whatsoever.0

LOL!
I found a plastic pinecone with fake snow on it which was a decoration I had on the tree last year... I found it on Monday night behind the sofa. Which shows that my cats are very dextrous to get it off the tree in the first place and I do not keep my house very well because I haven't cleaned behind my sofa in nearly a year.
