Thanks to everyone that responded to my post this morning, and thanks Jackie too. I saw the headmaster this morning (I was previously told to make an appointment to see the head of Foundation/Year One if I wanted to discuss it, but she was only going to say no again?). We see him at weekends due to the elf's hobby, so I wasn't too afraid to stick my head round his office door and ask for a quick word. He was totally mystified as to why the house elf and I had been told that weetabix wasn't acceptable. He said it wouldn't be a problem if a child wanted to bring a cereal bar or raisins to school if they wanted, even though weetabix is, in his opinion a healthier snack than those. Weetabix is on the healthy eating policy plan, and he said he knows this because he wrote it! He had no idea what was going on, and by the time we walked round to my boy's classroom, his teacher had already been informed that weetabix was fine. The head is going to raise the matter in a staff meeting to make sure all of his staff know that children do not only have to eat the fruit provided by the school - they may bring their own healthy snacks.

Does make you wonder what the issue the other woman had with making one small boy more comfortable though? Especially as the same woman made my friend's grandaughter sit down all day even though she had sustained chemical burns from chemicals left on a school toilet. She ignored the child and didn't contact my friend - the child had to be attended to in hospital, and was awarded compensation her injuries were so bad, yet this woman told her she had to sit down in class and never investigated.

Thanks again all of you for giving me somewhere to share my angst.

Cranky that is appalling about your friends daughter. I would have been furious! Glad you got everything sorted with your little boy.:j

I ordered some maternity tops yesterday from littlewoods - they were reduced down to £10 and less. Was very surprised to have them delivered a few minutes ago. Amazing. Now I just need to find some warm clothes that do not cost the earth! :(
