Good luck Sammy and hope it all works out for you :) xxx

Well I really need to pull my finger out today and get on with some housework - after my little depression blip I feel a bit better today but unfortunately the most obvious sign that I have been low is the state of the house :( The temptation to go back to bed is great, but it really must get done.

Must remember to turn the boiler thermostat up too as I dropped it but my bath this morning was not hot enough for me - oh well, so much for moneysaving there... Altho I still have it at much less than 60c... More like 54c... Will play about with it over the next few days to make sure I get a hot bath but at the lowest boiler temp, if that makes sense.

Wishing you all a happy autumnal day :)

Haha! The only time I do it is if I'm ironing something likely to drag on the floor, which isn't very often!

....and what is this ironing of which you speak??

Don't tip water over him it will make the bed wet and you'll have to sort it out. Instead, wet a flannel and put it in a tub in the fridge for half an hour, then apply. Good luck with your interview.

    Good luck juliethemuse!

Feels like we're running to standstill at the minute, we've trying to save as much as we can before 20th October but those expenses keep piling up. Had the boiler serviced yesterday, kind of knew there was something up with it, the guy is coming back today to replace the main circuit board so that's another hundred and odd quid. Thankfully we do have a savings pot for this but do you ever get those weeks where it just seems like one thing after the other? Most of the time the little things wouldn't even register as a problem but I think I must have reached a tipping point! But, looking on the bright side, it's something that can be fixed, not a new boiler needed so can't grumble really.

Sammy - I recognise that conversation almost word for word. :) Well done.

On a more OS note, I sat down yesterday and calculated whole year of usage for gas and elec since we have now been here 12 months!! It seems like yesterday when we moved in some ways but its been a very tough year. The thing that shocked me about the gas and elec usage was that it has reduced considerably from the last place although it always seemed to me that we were using more!! But in the last twelve months we have used almost £800 less than at lhe old house so I am pleased especially as it was such bad weather after Christmas and we permantently had heating on, not to mention the old dryer. So hopefully with all the changes I have made and am planning we can bring it down a little more. The new dryer is on at the moment - which obviously will be using energy - but as its brand new I am hoping it costs less than the old one to run. When it arrived Saturday I had it in the hall outside the utility room as I needed to clear a space in the utility room to put it, but I discovered it threw out so much heat that helped heat the house I have decided to keep it there to help heat the rooms. Doesnt look particularly attractive in the hall but boy it warms the house nicely! In the utility room the heat would be wasted as its kept closed.

Am having a sort out day today and emptying some cupboards in the kitchen to store some stuff from the worktops - they are all crammed with stuff and it takes forever to move everything to clean, hopefully it will make the kitchen much easier to keep tidy.
