Lovely news Gailey, I adore having my boys and wouldn't swap them for all the tea in china! It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

I'll tell you why people buy their children all those consoles etc (stands by to be shot down in flames), it's to keep the children out of their way. That's why Sammy's little stepson has an Xbox etc for his room even though there is one in the house already - to keep him out of the way. No wonder the poor little sod values his family time with Sammy and Co so much.
I am evil, I won't let my son play in his room. I like to be able to find his bed at bedtime. We have a tatty old sitting room downstairs, and all children play in here with....you've guessed it.....me as special guest:rotfl:unless I'm cooking , cleaning etc.
Mine does have a ds console as most of his friends have them. He still prefers his playmobil and other play figures at the moment, so I'm happy to let him play on it now and then.
Kidkat I was wondering if maybe the girl's parents didn't actually want her to have a party for whatever reason. Glad it's sorted!
Gailey, congratulations on your little boy. When's he due?0 -
Congratulations gailey, that is wonderful news!
this morning i am spending time going through DD's toys and books and all her baby stuff in the cupboard to see if there is anything that i can regift!
i have found a gift set for my sister, DH was given a hmv giftcard for his birthday so i am going to see how much is on that and regift that to his sister and hubby, my parents are getting a £20 gift card for tesco as that's where they spend most of their time!!!
so if i can find gifts for everyone at home, i will have saved us around £100!!
was asking DD what she was going to ask Santa for and all she wants is a bike(already got) ben and holly's little castle(already got) a handy manny toy and a board game!!
told DH that she won't be getting much more then as there's no point in spending money on stuff she doesn't want - will probably get her a few books as she is book mad and is just starting to learn to read and spell so a couple of educational bits will be good!!0 -
I don't know whether to be relieved or terrified about Christmas now. My mother has asked me to make her a gift! She wants me to make her an owl doorstop she saw in a magazine. In a subtle move she also brought me her sewing machine. So I have only had to buy a piece of felt (50p) and some buttons (£1.99 for some very nice ones). the rest of it is going to be made from some tea towels I have and I can also get rid of a bag of flageolet beans *gag* that have been hanging about in the pantry for months.
Even though I'm a bit stressed about making it it will save us a fortune so it's a big help. Aren't mum's great for helping you to save money without having to come out and "I know you might be out of work soon so save your cash".0 -
after rumaging for half an hour, i have found an alphabet jigsaw puzzle, a book with 365 stories in it, a couple of other books so these will do for our 2 older nieces(means i might not have to make those pj bags but would like to!)
in the cupboard i have found - a purse, a perfume gift set, a pair of pink fashion ear rings, a pink necklace, a coca cola glass, a becks beer glass
so i think i am sorted now, just need to find something for our baby niece and to figure out how i can incorporate the glasses i fou8nd into my presents!!0 -

at least you don't have to worry about 'finding the right gift' it is something she asked for and i'm sure she will love it!!0
