Afternoon all. I apologise in advance for this being OT OS
Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts, good wishes and PMs (I still need to reply to some) - they made me cry - which finding out about things didn't - but the kind wishes of you lot did - thank you x
Early days yet. He came rushing home from up North and stayed down here for the rest of the week. He had an emergency appt with his counsellor and has admitted his addiction to certain websites (I believe that he didn't actually 'do' anything other than chat this time- but I think that the ultimate intent (especially with colleague) was there (certainly from her side also - she was as guilty as anything when I ophoned her up and couldn't get me off the phone quick enough) I also believe that it scared him - he has been sayng desperately for weeks that he wanted to come home - I thought it was juust because of being away from us, but I think that the possible ease of possible scenarios also scared him - he wanted to get away from temptation, I suppose. Has another appt next Monday - at £45/ session it's not cheap, but it's well worth it (whatever the outcome for the 2 of us) to help him with lots of issues. I think it's going to take years. He couldn't get anythiing on NHS, not even after suicde attempts.
Not sure how it's going to pan out - he's gone back up there today for the next 6-7 weeks - and I hate it already.
That aside, I went shopping for retail therapy to cheer myself up - in the supermarket!! Only spent on food etc and stocked up on things that were either on good offers (tins, flour, pasta) or reduced items. Will all help for January
It's brrr freezing today - rained most of the night and kept me awake (bedroom in attic with velux windows - rain is very loud) Am sat here with thick socks on, jeans, jumper, shoes, a fleece blanket and a cup of tea (and half a pk of custard creams - but we'll forget about those!!) In daays gone by I would have put the heating on on a day like this - especially as I have 2 loads of washing to get dry - but am determined heating isn't going on until usual time (maybe 1/2hr earlier if everyone's cold) Kids can have wheat bags in beds to warm them up before they get in there! I must get some fngerless gloves, though - I have cold hands at the best of times, but they don't function properly in weather like this because they are so cold (hence lots of typos - and I've corrected loads!)
I really MUST sort out my Xmas lists this week and finalise what I've already got/ need to get/ need to make for people. I am isially a bit better organised than this by this time. DD's 13th birthday is just before Xmas and DS2's 5th just after too - so I need to incorporate those into the plans!
Right - time to organise the bank accounts first, and then some paperwork whlst DS3 is napping, methinks!!

pollys - sorry to hear about your Dad too - so many of us with Dads having the same probs
Hope they get him on the antiBs and it clears up soon so he can have the op.
Well we didn't get the sleet we were expecting in our area (at least not since I got up at 8) so I was pleased about that but it really was bitter outside and very wet. It rained on us during the walk to school but I still refused to take the car as the difference in distance wouldn't really be worth it as parking is virtually non-existent at the school so its still a walk! Besides, I love the fact that now they go to school locally, I don't have to use my car, as I had to with nursery.
Didn't feel well this morning, and still feel lousy so after the school run I went back to bed for a couple of hours.
Can't decide what to cook for dinner tonight... Not taken anything out of the freezer (no MP yet this week) so its going to be cupboard suprise!!! Kids might have eggs with cartoon spaghetti shapes and toastand I might have tom soup.
OR... just remembered I still have a cooked chicken drumstick and one thigh from Sat night... I might strip the meat off and make a risotto type thing with basmati rice, as I don't have any arborio inI wonder if DD1 would eat that... She is picky. Mind you, new rule here is eat it or be hungry so I guess she might... she is learning
Must give some thought to what to have tomorrow so I can whip something out of the freezer.
Maybe those scrummy double lamb chop/cutlet/whatever they are, things that were whoopsied to half price.... or maybe the lamb rack. I've not cooked either of them before.
I did pop into MrS meat counter the other evening around the same time to see if they were reducing stuff, but there was nothing! I was so lucky to have got so much on the day I went in.
This thread is very quiet today!!! Hope everyone is ok... and not been blown or washed away0 -

thanks for letting us know how you are getting on. It's good that he has admitted it and is getting help. If you are hating his being away rather than finding it a bit of a relief then that looks hopeful. I wish you all the best and hope it turns out happily for youIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Hello to all on here today and hugs where needed.
Well my OU confirmation arrived this morning so I guess I am officially a student again after upteen years although the course doesn't start til after Christmas so I shall just have to prepare myself by reading some real books to get my brain working again, don't think the crime thrillers and sci fi/fantasy that are my usual bedtime reading reading count! Wet miserable and all round horrid outside so glad we don't have to go anywhere today.
Think I shall distract myself from the weather by making some bread and dealing with the last bucket of crab apples from my MIL. got a spiced crab apple recipe and an estonian crabapple marmalade that I found via google to try - sounds interesting and the most amazing colour on the picture so will give it a go.0 -
'hello everyone, it hasnt stopped raining here since last night, got wet already on the school run and guess I will again at 3.30pm.
Thankyou for teh advice about my boys being fussy eaters. I blend veg into pasta sauces and DS2 eats tomato soup so may start putting some in there. We had his first parent meeting today at pre school and apparently he drinks milk at snack, he wont at home since we took his bottle away many months ago. We used to mix DS1 milk with nesquick when they did it in pre school so may start that again. They ate everythin when they were weined as I made everything and pureed it, problems started as they older. spag bol for tea and DS2 has promised to eat!
Its really cold today had to put heating on when back from school for an hour as when DS2 was getting changed from his wet trousers he started getting upset saying it was cold.
Got out tesco vouchers today. OH wants to use them to get toy story 3, just tried to pre order it but wont let me pay with the vouchers so will have to wait until it comes out.Mum, wife and dinnerlady!0 -
Does anyone know what the Aldi Super6 are this week please?0

Big hugs to greent.
I'm feeling chuffed that I found an all in one suit for my little girl. Got her one two years ago in the John Lewis sale for £12.50 (age 2-3) but she's outgrown it. Because she's 4 years this december I needed a new one as it gets sooo cold. Found one today in an outlet store for age 4-5 years so snapped it up and this should last her another 2 years. Wasn't as cheap but she will get the wear out of it.
Also popped into Aldi and bought their whole chicken for £2.99, some extra lean mince for £2.49 and four large chicken breasts for £3.99. Not the cheapest but this will do us for meals all week is I plan carefully. Will need to top up fruit and veg but at least the meat is sorted.
Also my lovely grandma who is in her 80's has said she will pay for my little girls ankle boots this winter. Another worry out of the way as we do not have the money to buy her any. I know we got her shoes but she's actually outgrown all her other trainers and does need some proper boots as we go walking alot and spend a lot of time outside.'Fear is the path to the dark side. :j My first ever approved foods order just arrived! :j
But.....what the !!!! am I gonna do with a 3 kilo tin of pineapple bits?! :rotfl: It's a VERY big tin....! Ideas on the back of a postcard, please....best idea wins...some pineapple
I've also got 18 (18!) packs of 8 tortilla wraps...funny how all these things seem so much MORE in real life than they do as a little number on a computer screen! God knows where I'm gonna put it all.
Got some jumbo-sized baking spuds in my order, one of them is very battered though. Apart from that, I'm very pleased with AF, will def order from them again.
Got my turkey curry bubbling away in the slow cooker, might have to make some naan with my AF naan bread mix to go with
