Snow was just an inch and has gone to solid ice. Lovely sunny morning but very cold so far. Am really fedup today and down, so I need to get out a walk to lift meself, so am glad its nice.
Was thinking (always a mistake innit!) & feel today that I have to lift & hold everybody up here, but once they are up, they soar away and leave me behind :D if you understand that .
I worked so hard on the RV trying to stop him going into depression and spending his early retirement in front of a telly. Encouraged him to buy another bike, but that meant all our savings & no holidays any more. Now he spends all his time along the road at his pals working on their bikes, which is fine, but leaves me sat here.
Knitted meself to a standstill doing him gloves/socks/neckwarmers, loads of socks for all the family, and I'm sat here with cold feet cos I gave them all away :D
Maybe time for a wee bit memeMEEE time here eh ! :rotfl::rotfl:Trouble is, I need a hobby or interest and I havent got one...
(((((Hugs))))) Mardy, you definitely need some YOU time!!!!! Is there anything you've always wanted to try? Ever thought of an Open University or similar course that you can do from home? But they do have meetups too I think. Or a book group? I haven't been to one but it looks like they do more tea/wine-drinking, gabbing and biccie eating than reading so sound quite fun. :D

No snow here but til very chilly. Nice and sunny and I shold really get out for a walk too. Have been feeling a bit low too, worried about stuff and then my mind goes into overdrive which never helps. So am just going to keep myself occupied as much as poss today.

Hugs to everyone else feeling bad and hope it gets better soon.

Another thought ... now that you've knitted a sock mountain for your family, have you considered selling them? Not your family, the socks! :D Maybe on Etsy or something? But don't forget to knit yourself some first!

Morning.....steps in gingerly.....have not been on for a while with OH being so ill, something he did not realise until I had a few choice words to say to him last night!! I went to bed crying and left him watching TV......he has had his brekkie and appears to be in the shower, the rest of the day is up to him....I cannot do any more for him than I am doing now.

Its blooming cold here, I have switched the heating on for another 3 hours, will light the stove later when its been cleaned out.....think I might have to put the grate in and start using a mixture of coal and wood especially if it snows.

Its quite bright just now, had thought of stripping the bed I am sleeping in but changed my mind, I am going to lelt OH stew on his own for another night.....will do it tomorrow.

Sorry you are feeling down Mardatha!! I know that feeling only too well.......I get slight SAD when the clocks go back.....it seems to have kicked in early this year, its usually Decemebr when it arrives........

Financially we are on a knife edge OH being in hospital so far away stretched the budget very thin, I have to recover from it, I used a whole months desiel visitng every other day, so I have just put Decembers allowance in the car. Trying not to use the car.........could use the local bus to get to Haddington, but it only runs once an hour and I gat sick on buses......might have to resort to using Tesco delivery, although what they charge would keep us in food for a few days.

I did some hard thinking whilst OH was in hospital and have decided to cut down on my quilting activities, I have quite a few UFO's every one in the family has a quilt, no good trying to sell them, people they do not want to pay a realistic price so I am clearing out my books and some excess fabric I know I am not going to use. Looking into taking the small hall in the village and trying to sell stuff that way, I have a drawer full of sewing thread I know will never get used. I am still using cops of thread I have had for years........so its time it got converted back into cash.

I will continue making cards, might try and sell a few of those, and also the little things like pot holders and the shabby chic cushion covers, need to find a supply for the shell buttons, cannot afford to pay £3 for 6 as I have been doing.

    Right rant over.....

Need to work out how much chocolate cake mix I need to measure out to make an 8" cake, just have to add water to it, will also try using it for steamed chocolate pudding.........see how that works.

OH asked for pork chops for supper hope he gets to eat it tonight!!
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

Right now, selling my family sounds like a plan ! Csarina Asda deliver in the afternoons for £3, anywhere from Berwick on Tweed to Edinburgh, they even deliver to me :) Been a big huge long walk, sun belting down and wee birds cheeping, watching buzzards soaring and now am knackered but calmer :)
  • Cards Mardatha, thats it!! Make cards, I do and they are so satisfying and everyone I use is worth a couple of pound. I sometimes make a few to have some ready and my dh made one for his brother yesterday. You could decorate with tiny figures made from knitting etc and just layer on another colour and stick a few sequins etc Time flies when I`m card making and dh gets oven chips and fish then or is told to make a sandwich. Put a cd on and you`ll soon be dancing
  • aww mardatha massive hugs, you give so much to everyone here as well no wonder you feel ''bla'' as for what to do with yourself, is there a walking group, bird group, !!!!! n stitch group any group local where you can just get out for a bit of you time or someone you can decend on for a cupper and cake

i guess there must be loads of us on here who dont see much of the outside world in terms of having anywhere to go, im one of them my link to the outside world is via here . sad i know lol

welll in terms of money saving, i gave in yesterday and admitted as much as my walldrobe seems ''special'' its magic you see it shrinks clothes lol lol i havent got anything much that is not falling apart to wear sooo i went to the market and got two pairs of elestic waisted trousards , they should of been £4.99 a pair but the man let me have the two pairs for £7 :) i must look as if i need them lol lol seriously though i was touched by his kindness :)

i ordered the beans again off bbrands used the code the other day, but also ordered them for mil has anyone had them yet ? do they double them up if so then there sould be 30 + 30 free , lord the poor delivery bloke will kill himself trying to lift them lol

started dad's cross stitch doing quite well on it, was a bit naughty (ok a lot naughty) the one hubby and i wanted to give him we couldnt afford it in time for me to do it for xmas so i copyed the pic onto comp then made a pattern via a free cross stitch pattern website, printed it off so as i had the cross stitch fabric i only had to get the colour thread much cheaper :) just hoping it turns out good :)

have decied i hate hate hate fire works, i had a suprise litter of bunnies 4 weeks ago, they are lovely wee things, mummy bunny being great with the three, i have been handling them since they were 4 days old, well to cut a long story short mummy only has two babys now and im blaming the great big bangs that was all around us like world war three :(

well just want to say thinking of you all , hugs to all that need then, get well soon to all that are ill and keep warm everyone :buddies:

I shouldn't moan at all, I've got a very good life compared to many :) Think main probs are the ME and the distance to go anywhere, anything interesting is an hour in the bus and I cant always be assed. Or else the bus if full of people coughing and sneezing and I just want to get off fast :(
I will find something dont worry. And the RV has just formally apologised :T:j:T I said what are you sorry FOR ? He said "I dono" :rotfl:

Know what you mean Mar. Sometimes it's a toss up between exhaustion or going mad with boredom. Aw, bless the RV ...:rotfl:

  • :rotfl: typical male behaviour, my husband does that too, and sometimes,if I am cranky he will say "I am sorry, I don't know what I have done, or will do in the next five years to annoy and upset you, but I apologise here and now in the hope that you won't chop my balls off!" Never ceases to make me laugh, and I can't stay annoyed for long, and he knows it!

I know what you mean Mardatha, I think its a woman thing, we spend so much time on our families we forget ourselves. Oh has been very down the last few days and its a struggle to keep him going and now Im exhausted. We had step grandson for 2 days then Dgs for 2 days so have a pile of washing and my bedroom left to pack. The bl**dy builders arrive on Friday so I got tons to do.

of course there are people worse off than us but as we seem to hold up our little universe we have to be good to ourselves. Have you had a look at cross stitch, maybe get one of the magazines with the free kit on the front and have a dabble. I personally avoid large projects but love little ones and always have one on the go for when my hands hurt from knitting.

Have been trying to fill the freezer with stuff I can re heat in the micro for during the 3 weeks of building work. Doing ok but am mainly worried about how Oh will get to rest during the day as he gets ill very quickly and like a lot of disabled people he cannot cope with his routine being messed with. Got to keep positive, new kitchen and bathroom will be fab. Just a point can we have Christmas in February pleeeze????:rotfl:
