wow snow! Its cold and wet here, rain most of the week - the boys would be jealous as they love snow.
Seem to have spent alot today, put DS1 spare coat on for fireworks last night only to find he has outgrown it spectactually! Managed to get a padded one in primark for £9, then found a hole in his only trainers, fair dues hes had them for months. Mum came to town with us and she kindly bought them some all in one fleece pjs from primark so we have two telletubbies wannabes tucked up in bed. This month is a tight month with budget and clothes were not supposed to be bought. I did look on ebay but the postage on jackets was around £5 so it actually worked out cheaper to go into town.Mum, wife and dinnerlady!0 -
Just been lurking on a weather forum that interests me, we have the high possibility of a bad storm with high winds and lots of rain Sun/Mon might be worth making sure everything is all tied down and tickety-boo.

Aww snow I love it, had rain here tonight again!
Just did our fireworks was lovley daddy and eldest in garden, me and babe watching inside through glass patio doors in warm, dry conditions.
I only picked a low noise, pretty set suitable for familes.
Was shocked at price was 20 for box but bog off so got 2boxes plus 3packs of sparkers and spent 22quid people in front of me were spending 60-100quid.
Still was nicer and cheaper than huge display.
Luckily we live near pub and posh estate overe road so watched theres too.
Did snacks before we went out.
baby so tired went to bed early, just need to get overexited 4year old in bed now.
Had hectic day as finally got new curtain pole in lounge diner as ours was broke plus dangerous with hanging cords.
Got new curtains and was horrified at price as wanted heavy ones lined as our double glazed patio doors not so good, curtains moved in wind and dident meet in middle.
Our doors quite large needed 90 by 90inches which was biggest and most expensive .
But they do look lush and think they will help keep room warmer just need to make a snake for the door and get some fleece blankets silly me forgot yesterday and wont have to turn fire on as much.
Went to tj hughes for curtains and was well busy but some fab bargains in there dident get chance to have proper look around as baby was playing up.
Couldent get the microwave, hot water bottle animals for kids was gutted anyone seen them sold anywhere else?
Went to morrisions by myself tonight as couldent face dragging kids and hubby along tend to spend more that way and we were very low on grocery.
Very dissapointed was in there about 4-5pm and they have so many dumpbins and trollys of stock in ailses was nitemare, availaibility on section quite poor so had to check ends. Te reductions were very measly god knows what time they do decent reductions.hardly anything off fresh fish or meat section.
The free range poultrys more expensive than sainsburys.
The chilled /fresh reductions section dirty, a mess with hardly any money off, no reductions on produce.
Some of the offers were good shopped them.
Couldent get eldest any morrisions own pullup pants in her size.
Was shocked at increases the 12pack value toiliet roll was 1.29 other month now 1.46!
The value mouses were more expensive than co-op even.
value foil 60p is 30p in sainburys.
value plain flower 45p up to 55p!
Value passata was 25p no longer there has to buy own brand at 37p a carton.
Stuggled to find reasonably priced brandy to cook with as wanted it for cherry brandy, mincemeat to make xmas chutney and mince pies.
4pint milk was 2 for 2quid-not bad but not as good as farmfoods.
Think its ok for deals but couldent do my whole shop there as would work out too pricey.
I know what forget to say earlier re diability. A person I know from mums forum said on fb that her daughters 24hours of respite care has been cut as criteria has changed.
Not exactly sure whats matter with her I think its type of autism and she has a statement and I would say med special needs. Wondering how criteria has changed as her condition hasent. Do feel sorry for her as shes single parent with 4kids and 2 have disabilitys. Have suggested comtacting relevent association or charities and seeing if they do respite care.
Hope everyones ok and having lovley weekend.
Right best go do our tea as kids dinner earlier fishfingers and chips not really my thing.pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:

Well, did have to spend a few pennies today but also got a few bargains.
As mentioned previously I have real problems getting proper shoes for my daughters really narrow feet. So, I took the advice on here and ordered online from Clarks to be delivered in store. Went today to have them measured. Neither fitted but the lady serving us said she may have something out the back. Off she went and came back with one pair of shoes in my daughters actual size and the style I orginally wanted. Tried them on her and they were perfect and my little girl loved them - couldn't get them off her! Went to the till to pay and the lovely lady said they were actually shoes that were in the sale but as they are such a rare size they did not sell. So, we paid £15 instead of £38 for the perfect shoes. One happy mummy and little girl. :j:j:j
Then had to get a dressing gown for madam. Went to Marks and Spencer and she fell in love with this fluffy, pink, hooded number. Was a but pricey at £15 but hubby said to get it as she is a nightmare at home not wearing any clothes at all  and if she'll wear a dressing gown then it's good. When we got to pay it came up as £9. The shop assistance just shrugged and said if that was the price the till said then she would go with it!
Also found a cool mist humidifier in John Lewis for £29.95 which was a lot cheaper than we had budgeted for. When we looked online we saw they were roughly between £35+. We also wanted a ioniser with it so tonight hopefully my poorly little girl will sleep better without coughing the night away.'Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.'
Proud Mummy to two gorgeous miracles.:j0 -
Oh I love when things like that happen Jedi! :j
Re the fireworks, I remembered that when I was a child, they were illegal in Ireland but we used to visit England a lot so brought some home with us .. very bold. We used to invite friends around to watch them in the garden. I just checked and it is still illegal to use them or sell them here without a license but it doesn't seem to stop people judging by the bangs!Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

It's officially cold. DS (AKA Grumpy the house elf) who is now 6 years old and who has been happily wondering round still wearing t-shirts until last week announced at 1:00pm today that he was cold. That was in spite of him having a long sleeved top on today too. I told him to put another jumper on as we only have the heating on for an hour in the morning and an hour and a half in the evening at the moment. It's an unexpected advantage of a terraced house. Even though it's big, and in theory should cost an arm and a leg to heat, the fact that we have a lot of adjoining walls and that next door have a woodburning stove seems to keep the bills bearable.
Mmm, another bad mummy confession - this is the first year that I have let ds have the heating turned up in his bedroom. It's always been off until now as he is a warm little soul (takes after his late dad), heat rises - and he sleeps on the 3rd floor, and when he was a baby I preferred those fleecy suits rather than be continually checking to see if he had blankets on.0 -
I have very fond memories of being young and my dad lighting fireworks for me and my bro...he used to stand at the bottom of the garden and light them and we always had to stay a safe distance away. Then we would go out to 'the green'...a big field at the front of the houses where we lived, there would be a huge bonfire on there. I was quite often poorly when Nov 5th came around and sometimes i would have to watch from our window as i wasn't allowed to go out...i recall also watching my dad prancing around the garden in a sheet on halloween, once again i was ill and watching from my parents bedroom window as Dad tried to make me laugh playing around in the back garden.
When i had my own children i used to light the fireworks at the bottom of our garden, we always had sparklers...this is only a few years ago that it all stopped really, but i do have some lovely memories.
When i was well enough to go on 'the green' to stand by the bonfire with the other neighbourhood kids and all our parents, i recall we all used to wrap potatoes in foil and put them at the base of the ginormous fire and then when the fire was on the wane some hours later, we'd dig them out and tke the foil off and eat....yummy!
Mum used to make bonfire toffee...we would share it with the neighbours...tonight i've tried making some but i'm sure it won't be as nice.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

It's suddenly cold here too. It's been really sunny all day, and when we came home this evening it was back to Hammer House of Horror fog - it really swirls around here: very atmospheric. It's warm in the sitting room because the stove is lit, but I just went into the hall and it is FREEZING. DH just told me this is because the heating isn't turned on. It's November, for crying out loud, just because he swans round the place in shorts all the time... :mad:0
