  • ((Hugs)) to everyone that needs them - it must be the time of year to feel down.

Had a horrible day yesterday - one of the horses broke its leg in the field and had to be shot. Wasn't my horse but seeing it unable to move and in distress was just awful. Managed to keep stiff upper lip at the time as DD was in bits but cried my eyes out in the sanctuary of home.

Feel very down - the challenge of making ends meet and the worry about keeping a job are constants and I feel that I'm swimming against the tide...drowning at times

As sinking isn't an option - I will have to put a bit more wind in my waterwings, adjust my flippers and dive back in.

..and the library books so far are a big disappointment - nothing in them that I didn't already know and am already doing but still reading the 2nd of 5 so there might be hope yet.

    Take care honeys x

  • charlies-aunt that must have been awful, the poor animal. Its upset me and I wasn't even there, have a hug. x

Gailey I found loads of those wheat animals online the other night, I was buying a teddy for a friend who's in hospital at the moment. I just googled "wheat bag teddy bears" I think the little ones I saw were about £6 or £7. You could make the quite easily out of old teddies though or just buy hot water bottle covers and make wheat bags for them.

Kittie, how do you make your potato boats ... I think I am going to do my baked spuds today and like the idea of cramming extra butter and cheese in. :D

Bake then halve. Scoop the insides out put in a bowl and and save the skins Mash with pepper, butter and grated cheese and maybe some nutmeg and then beat a little with a spoon. Spoon into the empty skins. Cool and open freeze. Then pack in poly bags

Thaw and grill when needed or bake frozen

My children loved these but I haven`t made them for years and never frozen them but I`m sure it will work

I have just seen a couple of posts in which people are really scared of coping with their finances and suggest that if at all possible you get an old version of m/s money off ebay. It is simple to use and you input future bills. I always put my incomings and outgoings into my current account on `money` and I do it for 3 months ahead so that there are no nasty surprises. Budgeting becomes more manageable if you can see a bit of the road ahead. If you cannot manage to get `money` then do a timeline across a double sheet of paper and input everything you can think of for 3 months ahead

I'm sitting here watching Jamie's 30 minute meals and really wish I could cook like that. He has just made a delicious looking summer veg lasagne and tuscan salad to go with it. May have to try and make it but use slightly cheaper ingredients than he does. Very hungry now. :o

Meant to add that I am a horrible parent and whatever is cooked is eaten by all. If someone does not like it then it's just tough luck. My daughter is fairly fussy but has learnt that what is put on the plate infront of her is all she is going to get and so she eats most of it. I know it's easy to say and I'm lucky I'm not in a situation where she refuses to eat anything - could be because I'm such a rubbish cook she doesn't trust me cooking more than one meal a night!

    hello!
Well I've had a lovely day - we went out to one of the villages about 40mins from our house, and walked along a trailway to where a new bridge was being opened! Then we walked on the the next village, and there was a little fair to celebrate the new bridge, with a BBQ, a band and general merriment! All very wholesome and a lovely sunny day - we both had red cheeks from the cold though!
Came home to the smell of a chicken casserole simmering away in my slow cooker :) and am now sitting down with a cheeky glass of red wine, watching the Grand Prix. Feeling an urge to do some baking though...might see what I can rustle up from what I've got in the cupboards.

Hugs to csarina and everyone else who's feeling down. I agree that it is a woman thing, the feeling of holding everything together when the men seem to be able to just "switch off" and relax in front of the tv or whatever, as if all is perfectly right in the world! I think my DH thinks it's his "right" to sit down and play computer games or watch tv all day if he's not at work, whereas if I'm at home, I feel obliged to get on with one of the million jobs that always needs doing - it's rare that I just sit down and chill out (like I'm doing now, LOL!)

Can tell it's much colder today than it has been the past week or so - we've had condensation on the windows all day :( So annoying, can't be a*sed to wipe them all off every morning. My kitten "helps" though by licking the water off....! :rotfl: She does have a bowl of fresh water but prefers to get her moisture from anywhere else she can find, silly creature.

Mmmmm can't wait for my tea, smells gorgeous :D

Well if it rains here, it'll snow. if you understand me LOL ! Out the back is frozen, still white & not melted at all, only the bits in the sun have. The tops of the hills are still pure white and the north slopes as well.

I do this too. It really shows when the children have friends round who get to eat what they want at home. I am so glad that my two are so easy to feed. However they know that if they don't eat it then they starve.....mwha ha ha.......:D
