Am so down at the moment, got DD4 off sick, she has been up all night throwing up again, this has gone on for three weeks now its just passing from child to child. I am feeling awful again too, disinfected everywhere again yesterday in hope of killing of bugs and have washed all washing at 60c minimum. Not helped as kitchen pipe under sink has sprung a leak last night and there is water all over the place. Waiting on plumber from landlord to turn up - he is inclined to turn up when he can be bothered though, he came a few weeks ago to do a small repair and promised to be back next day to finish and we are still waiting, got a list of non urgent stuff for him to do.
Had to give eldest two cash for lunch today as we had run out of bread for sandwiches and had no time to start attempting anything else with all the water pouring everywhere, why do these things always happen on a school day, last week would have been fine as kids were off.
Considering throwing some washing onto the line outside to see if it dries, am overloaded with washing with the kids being constantly sick.
Flu jab - I dont have either, had a nasty reaction to it years ago and wont consider it now.0 -
Have had a productive money saving morning. My buildings insurance is due for renewal so got some cheaper quotes but the excess was a lot more than my old company so I rang them and they have reduced my policy to match the cheaper quote and my excess is still tiny. They also reduced my redundancy policy by £30 a year without me asking and seeing as I work for local government I could well need this (fingers crossed I dont).:beer:I have every possession I want. I have a lot of friends who have a lot more possessions. But in some cases I feel the possessions possess them, rather than the other way round0

Catching up again! Reading the posts it strikes me that many of us are fighting a battle against the same things.
Lack of health, money, or time. Some are unlucky and have to battle all three. Mine is health but I remember the hard times in my past so I understand what it's like to struggle on little money.
This site is invaluable as it gees us up when we feel down. Keep it going, please.
I admire you all for coping the way you do and" The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Just heard from DH, and then on the BBC the amount of jobs that are going where DH works 800-1000 people (about 1 in 3). Some of these will be compulsory redundancy. DH seems to think it's not as bad as it sounds with retirement, end of contracts and things, but it's still scary to me. Hopefully this announcement is the start of the end and we'll actually find out where we are rather than all this waiting.0

Yeah, I always find the 'what if' is so much harder to deal with than the actual circumstances that you may or may not find yourself in.
Hopefully you'll know real soon so the process of dealing with it can begin rather than worrying. Better still, I hope your family is over looked at this unsettling time.0 -
()s kidcat. Sometimes being a mother is the toughest job in the world! Especially on no sleep! Is there anyone who could come and help out for even a couple of hours so that you could have a bit of a rest? Or who would take some of your washing away and do it for you? Hope DD feels better soon and no one else goes down with it and the plumber turns up - you will get through this bad patch although I know it feels never ending when you're in the middle of it. Just keep telling yourself it will go by and meanwile only do the bare essentials - looking after yourself and the children is more important.
Hope you find out where you stand soon alec eiffel, not knowing is almost worst than being told it's bad news, but I hope your DH will be among the lucky ones and that it will all work out for you.
()s to anyone else who's struggling at the moment. Wet, grey November days don't do much to lift the spirits but there is a watery sun at least trying to come out here.Jan 2011 GC £300/£150.79 (2 adults, 2 teens, working dog, includes food/cleaning/toiletries)0 -

makes sense now, ran into town after making the toast at school this morning and gave in a £5 in farmfoods, got 2 bread and milk and wondered why I didnt get £3 change. I didnt have a receipt to check.
Seem to be very behind with everything, Im enjoying volunteering at school 3 days a week but Im so tired and behind on the household stuff, once we in from school at 12pm, DS2 has lunch and is normally asleep by 1pm then I sit down for an hour before tidying and then going back to school. Suppose I shouldnt sit down!
Really take my hat of to working mothers - I dont have enough time in the day.
