Aye i know Jackie its bad. I've been paid tax credits yesterday and spent half of it on debt. But i'm thinking at least it gone and paid for.2 less things to worry about.
My partners a plumber so its a case of his basic wage and that's it. Works tight and not enough jobs kicking about.
Every penny matters, such a shame it has to be like this.:(0 -
Thanks Elona. TBH I am suffering with depression at the moment, and I am probably over egging things, but I can't stop myself!! I am hoping I'll wake up one day, feeling better, and then will be doubly delighted by seeing that things are a lot better than I though, financially!
Frugal, Aldi have a website, I check it every week for the coming offers.
Kezlou, my OH is a joiner/site agent, so people don't normally need emergencey repairs over the winter, at least yours might have the chance of the odd burst pipe or two, hopefullyThere must be plenty folk out there who haven't been reading the preparing for winter thread!

Thanks Kezlou you summed up how I feel - the previous thread was so nice (most of the time) and I feel overwhelmed with the speed of the discussion and daily threads. I can't check on this all the time so it was nice to have something to read that moved a better pace for me personally.
Haven't been on for a couple of days so I missed all the arguments anyway :T
Was pleased with my OH yesterday he produced a whole stack of Mr M receipts with local offers printed on the back, 2for1 meals and that kind of thing. He'd been collecting them without any nagging at all
Yes it is cold - and I am currently having issues with my thyroid (always dodgy) which always made me feel hot and is now making me feel very chilled. Been taking my temperature in the morning and it is just scraping into the normal range.
Been stocking up for the c-word, love the whisky offer in Mr M for the Famous Grouse, £13 for a litre is good and I have whisky lovers in my family so it's usually an annoying expense!!
I'd like to get some wartime coping books - can anyone recommend any good ones?MFW 2015 so far..... £1808.702014 - £1451 2013 - £1600 2012 - £4145 2011 - £5715 2010 - £3258:)

ahaaa thanks Jackie - Just had a look - their veg offers look fab....
Anyone here buy meat from Aldi? I am quite fussy about meat and wondered if its good? I bet I can cut my shopping down further by switching from MrT to Aldi's even if I go there every other week (I do like MrT)

Sorry I am veggie but my dog likes their chickens and hot dogs if that's any use?
Lidl's also have a site too, if you're interested?

I hope Jackie!
Being in construction is just a nightmare sometimes there's lots of work while others its dry as bone.
Depression wise -gp you should be on anti-depressants and valium. Me no thanks i'll just battle on, whats the point? GP it will help you better Me well last time i went on them is tarting crying even more and got less sleep. So thanks for the offer but i'll stick with tea and cake.
Frugal hmmm not sure about wartime books, but i've got an old version of delia's frugal foods. Which is quite good.
Thriftladys thread is brill. I'll have a hunt for it now and post a link up for you.
Aldi offers :-
all 39p
cabbage
onions
beetroot
salad potatoes
cauliflower
parsnips
I've had the bacon and chicken from there which is quite good. We always buy the parma ham and salami from aldi as its quite well priced and some really nice flavours.
My OH can stand Mr T's, and to be honest i think its more expensive than sainsbugs. The meat from there, according to OH and boys, is full of fat and nasty looking. So we don't really shop there unless where visiting the shops or swimming baths next to it.

Thanks Kezlou for starting/bumping this long running thread.
I've always found that i can easily identify with many who contribute to this thread and would be sorry to see it closed or moved to a different board. I know there is a daily thread on OS and i did used to contribute to it, but when my depression and illness got worse i found that i felt overwhelmed with reading every post and responding to individual posts, specifically those that wished me well and showed concern to me. It sounds stupid because eveyone was/is so lovely on OS....but when you are in a 'funk' it is sometimes difficult to deal with even the slightest responsibility or feeling of obligation to reply.
I've blogged for over 6 years and used to blog daily but my blogging is also very sporadic so i just tend to peruse the threads here when i am online. What i'm finding easier to do is to just check out 4 or 5 particular threads on this board and participate without any (self heaped) obligation on my time or strain on my brain. You know I don't think it's as cold as it usually is at this time of year. I think everyone in my house has normally started moaning about wanting to put the heating on but no one has yet. Maybe they are just getting more hardy year on year.
I have to say i haven't got a jumper or socks on yet and we still have the summer duvet on although I am snuggling up with my fleece blanket in the evening.0 -
Just realised I mentioned Mardatha and my wise-owl guru Mardatha, but never mentioned Frugalista, who should not be embarrassed to come back in anyway, if she was gotcha'd by a troll, she's not the first, or the last, and she should be able to express her opinion if and when she likes. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0
