Its everything to do with OS, there's nothing in the world more OS than being a mum! It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

The letter was for an appt for this coming Wednesday to attend a Pathways To Work interview, which my daughter has to attend. It's madness...the whole system is madness. There should be some concession when dealing with people with a mental illness - how can an outsider, untrained in mental illness, decide whether my daughter is fit for work or not?
She can't keep awake or get out of bed a lot of days, and when she is up, she's either on a massive low where she doesn't speak or has a uncontrollable anger where she wants to rip everyone's head off, so how is she supposed to work?
Anyway - it's got nothing to do with OS, and I'm waaay OT, so I'll stop there.
I just really wanted to come on to say thanks x
'Tis true that this isnt O.S. - but I'm glad you felt supported.
hope things work out for you and your daughter.0 -
Hello everyone,
just read the last page of thread. havent been on laptop since wednesday as I ve had a tummy bug - but thankfully havent been toilet for 6 hours now! Knocked me for 6 as I dont normallly get poorly, OH took day parental leave yesterday and left a post on facebook last night saying that he doesnt know how I manage the boys and house every day! He only took them to my sisters for 2 hours then back here. (although the post he left was very sweet). It was his day off today but i didnt go to Liverpool musuem with them, was a bit sad and boys were very sweet saying we can go again next week all together.
Have read that someone mentioned getting teachers 'snowman soup' - what is that?
Last year DS1 gave £1 choocs and made a card, his teacher was touched that he made it for her.
In town on monday we walked past a family with a little girl that i do reading with on a wednesday at school - she said to her mum "thats mrs arrons mummy" - so cute but i couldnt remember her name for the life of me!Mum, wife and dinnerlady!0 -
Yes I do have a number of interests from gardening, playing the flute with a Quire (with a Q!)
You just brought such a smile to my face. When i was about 9 or 10 years old (long before i became an education-rebel and forgot to turn up for my high school exams) at primary school I was quite good at English. Our class were to take a spelling test and throughout term we had been learning lots of new words and oddly spelt words. On the monring of my test there was just one word i was very confused about, so i asked my Dad..."Dad, how is the word 'choir' spelt....you know, like when people sings hymns and stuff...?"
After thinking for a moment, he hid his mischievous grin rather well as he said, in all seriousness..."that'd be Quire".
"Are you sure, Dad"
"Yes!".
When school ended later that day I had got 24 out of 25 (my education was like a landslide therafter :rotfl:)...I couldn't wait for Dad to get home from work...i was really upset with him because that was the only word I had got wrong in the test
Still, he topped that by forgetting to collect me from school one day....ever likely is have 'issues'...:rotfl:Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Thinking of you hippee. That seems really hard and unfair.
I thought I'd copy a post in here - I have found a lovely bunch of ladies - a similar age to me ( a certain age hehehe). It just summarises a small part of my day/ week:
I am 50 (reeeeaaallly???) and have managed to survive a week of my stepsons + one's girlfriend staying. I have felt tense, anxious, uptight - any other words or have all my words gone??? i love them dearly but am a bit mixed up with this menopause effect lately. I need space and ....more space. And someone to be a chaffeur would be good as I managed to drive ONTO small stupid bollards today which weren't there the other day - BUT a kind taxi driver behind me got out and gave me steering directions to get off them. He also told the peeping traffic to shut up . How come a couple of years back I was a fulltime time lecturer, doing a Masters through the OU and also my teaching cert at the same time? AND I was sane and rational + had energy
end of that quote. i suppose it was funny looking back. Youngest DSS at 16 and in passenger seat and a kind of drama queen tried to hide his face from the kind taxi driver who was trying to speak through his window. Anyway, now I am home and am counting my blessings - nice and warm here while a wind is blowing outside, had lovely left over pasta bake for tea, have had some wine, have space to come on here and mull things over. Goodness me, I feel like 101 tonight and that's not the temp ha ha.
Going off to put my feet up and plan tomorrow's supermarket list. I know how to enjoy myself on a Friday night!

Good news today - I have got through to interview for one of the jobs that I applied for...but even better I have had my contact at my present job renewed for another 6 months this afternoonI instantly felt stones lighter when I was told - so pleased to know that I've got through the selection process and ... relieved that we can afford to keep (reasonably) warm this winter!
Congratulations charliesaunt :beer:Jaxx yes I am... this family is so stupid that I've started screaming at the telly!! I just yelled at him to put honey on his cut hand and the OH told me to calm down or he's turning it over !
DD has a patch of dry skin on her scalp that she picks and it drives me nuts. Last night and this evening i just happened to have put a bit of honey on it as i was walking past her :beer:Lindy_-_Loo wrote: »Hello everyone,

These appointments can be very worrying, but i really do think (having attended many of them in the past) that often the build up of anxiety prior to the appointment is often far more of a problem than the actual appointment itself. I haven't been to one since the coalition came in to government so i don't know how they will differ now, but if you take any hospital letters, doctors letter (dates of appointments etc), prescription meds etc with you/your daughter, then all of this can be put on record so that your DD's case can be asessed on the basis of the medical evidence and the care your DD has received from health professionals.
Having said this/written this, I concur with you that no unqualified JC employee can make an acurate assement based on such a meeting, but if things haven't changed to much then your DD may attend a medical where this can be determined (usually incorrectly in my experience/case and also in the opinion of a JC emploee who informed me of this)...but what it means is that there are various stages to go through before any changes are made to your DD's benefits and the expectation for her to work.
Even if your DD failed the medical at some point in the future, she can then appeal. The whole process takes months and months and months.

I am developing an unhealthy obsession with WOODBURNER websites since I found out my new boiler will be situated upstairs thereby freeing up my fireplace and chimney
What can I burn in it? (when i get it that is!) And I do know I can burn woodBut what else? Can i make newspaper pulped 'logs'? If so, how?
Also, can you use the top of any stove to cook on?
Patience is not a virtue I possess so its gonna be tough waiting (and saving) but I sooooooooo hope it will be worth itTo know that next winter (doubt it will be this one) I will have a fully working woodburner is filling me with warmth and excitement

Big hugs to you Hippeechiq, I really hope the meeting goes ok. I'll have my fingers crossed for you and your daughter. x
Dollydaydream, great news about the tenner! I did a storecupboard challenge this time last year ... got lots of encouragment from the OSers so I'm sure if you list what you've got, you'll manage till the cashflow is a bit better. Your tea sounds scrummy by the way.
This week has been a bit horrid - nothing mega, just lots of small things that got me down. I have been extra tired and achey which hasn't helped not to mention PMS. But I'm doing much better now, relaxing in front of a beautiful fire with plenty of tea. I couldn't ask for more ... well perhaps just one more chocolate biscuit.
Hope everybody else is ok and hugs to anyone who'd like one.Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

Snowman soup is little cellophane packets of hot chocolate, and mini marshmallows, tied with a poem about snowman and soup on little tag. It's on the gift area somewhere, I got it last year and was really impressed with how easy it was andooked good too. Called into sainsburys again earlier and grabbed another item off christmas lists.
Woodburners, I so want one, as we are looking to buy a house its on my list, dad thought I was crazy but I am determined its necessary and will bring heating costs right down.
Absolutely exhausted at moment, was up and down with kids all night again, ds6 is having night terrors and ds12 drank something that triggered a major high followed by a horrific low last night. Still very down today and crying regularly, am annoyed with myself that I made such a stupid error and bought the drink. Praying it wears off tomorrow, been plying him with milk all day and small amounts of sugar to bring him up a bit.
Car going to cost several hundred pound and be off road most next week, so not sure how going to manage school runs!!
Did manage to visit farm foods today and really impressed at prices. Also managed to get lots washing dried by using dryer for some and standing airer filled with the rest on top of drier. Saved few loads from dryer. Also organised my dad to help me draught proof the garage next week to hopefully warm my bedroom a bit.0
